Very rushed appointment at the dentist...

Hello, not sure if I'm overthinking this but it's worrying me. I had an appointment this morning for a check up with my NHS dentist. I was in and out in 5 minutes! She had a look at my gums and did the poking and scoring like usual. Had a look at all the teeth with a mirror and that was that.

It all felt very rushed and I feel like loads of things were missed. I wasn't asked to bite down to check my bite (usually am), I didn't have the fluoride varnish applied (normally do) just the bare minimum and off you go. I am a high risk patient for dental problems due to underlying illness, and have terrible health anxiety anyway, so just really worried problems could have been missed and I won't know for another six months.

Does this sound like a normal appointment? Or should I call tomorrow and ask for an explanation?

For context, this is the same dentist I always see and as far as I can remember havent had this issue before

I'm naturally a worrier so prepared to be told to chill out!

Sounds like a normal appointment to me. I don’t apply fluoride to anyone over the age of 16 and don’t check the bite unless I’ve done treatment which may have altered the bite

That’s a normal checkup.

Normal examination if you're an adult.

Fluoride varnish isn't part of an NHS examination nor is checking your occlusion (unless it's related to earlier work)

You're completely overthinking it IMO

Glad to hear it's normal. I've had the varnish the last 4/5 times which is why It seemed odd not to. Thanks all
