Covid19 means we are contemplating taking out family cover- Are there any companies you recommend// best program you suggest? So many options out there.

If you want a Company that provides the best levels of care and covers most conditions and specialists, then you are looking at AXA or Bupa. You can do comparisons on compare the market. The things you need to know is what level of outpatient fees you want, what excess you can afford and also you will get a cheaper quote if you go for a 6 week policy, meaning you can go private if you cannot get the procedure done on the NHS within 6 weeks.

We use right2health who search the market for us and find the best cover to suit our needs. Each year at renewal they swap our provider if necessary/wanted. I find it hassle free, hate looking for things like that.

We have Bupa and I’d recommend them. God knows what our renewal price will be though as I’ve had a CT scan, endoscopy and colonoscopy, ultrasound and a few consultant appointments in the last few months. All covered and haven’t had to pay a thing. There are different levels of coverage and usually chronic existing conditions aren’t covered.
Our plan is pretty comprehensive and quite expensive, but in the current climate I think it’s worth it if you can afford it, and I feel very lucky that we can.

I used Richard Champion at Activequote.com to do the same job as right2health mentioned above. He was very well informed and explained the options very clearly. Highly recommended. I strongly suggest you use someone like this as the main providers all have different perks and/or options for keeping the cost down, and you want to be sure that you choose something that actually suits you.

I also took the opportunity to ask my husband's oncologist whether he thought there was anything I should bear in mind. He said that from his perspective, the main providers were equally good, but that BUPA was the only one he had never had to argue a case with.
