Can I change my diet while waiting for blood tests or should I carry on as normal so as not to skew any results

I went to the dr about having no energy, I feel like I can barely make it around the house every day, have been struggling to get up. My weight has ballooned in the last two years. The dr weighed me and I have put on 3 stone in the last two years, one in the last year.
I couldn't believe it and tbh the dr actually said that's a lot to put on as he could see what I was before.

He's sent me for blood tests but im unable to have them until March. I really want to sort myself out weight wise right now but if im being tested for things like thyroid, will this skew the results? Obviously I want to be healthier but if I have a thyroid problem I would like drugs and a weight loss plan. I've heard the NHS doesn't diagnose thyroid problems until the measure is really low so don't want to change anything if it means I won't get help as who knows if I can stay on this diet anyway because I'm eating to try to cope with working and being so tired.
Shame I have to wait a month to get the blood tests but it is what it is.

Changing your diet should not affect whether or not they can detect a thyroid problem.

Yep. Won’t make any difference at all. (I’ve had thyroid issues for 20 years, as well as other autoimmune conditions). The only things that do make a difference is things like going gluten free whilst waiting for coeliac blood results etc.

Thank you. Was planning on cutting out carbs and exercising. Fed up with feeling so exhausted and putting so much weight on. Actually hoping the blood test finds something!

It may make a difference if they are investigating for coeliac disease and you are considering cutting out gluten.
You should continue eating gluten till you have a diagnosis as the blood test looks for antibodies. If you are not eating gluten you will not be producing antibodies.

Thanks @Lonecatwithkitten I'm not sure what else is being tested for, the dr definitely said iron and thyroid, I know there's more than that being looked at though so I'll keep that in mind.

@palesails your symptoms could fit with coeliac disease so I would keep eating gluten and ask your doctor about being checked.
