Lilsmum - don't worry too much. It's quite effective and you'll only need it for a short while.
It's when it's used repeatedly over a long time e.g. for excema (sp?) that it can be harmful.

I agree with eefs that its only if you use it for a long time that you really need to worry. If it still makes you feel uneasy have you could try a natural cream. I always have calendula cream, but that was for dry skin. But I remember going to get it in Boots and there were loads of other creams for other skin problems that might help. Its worth a try.

WAS THE RASH LOOKING VERY SORE? oops caps lock on. hydrocortiseone 1% is not strong, one of the lowest u can get (0.5% obviously lower). for a short period of time for clearing up dribble rash etc it'll be ok. its when its long term use u have to be careful (dd1 has been using it on and off for 4yrs)

Agree with the others, I wouldn't worry at all about using hydrocortisone, it is the mildest steroid cream there is. Keep using a reasonable amount - if you use it too sparingly it won't work. There is a guide as to how much to use here . It can be a bit difficult to work out for a small area, but gives you an idea. HTH.

I won't worry for that 1% is very mild and you are likely to use it for a very short time. DS was on HC 2.5 for several months and his skin is perfect.

PS Apply it sparingly but NOT too sparingly, you are likely to use it for less time if you apply the correct amount from the beginning. (ie, well aplied two days VS a couple of weeks of incrrectly applying it, which means she gets a higher dose.)

Have you tried Bepanthen its for nappy rash and other types of rash have used it on dd ras on cheeks really helped to take the redness a way its great only use the hydrocortisone sparingly and for short time
