Mammogram and biopsy

Hello. I had a biopsy today after routine mammogram showed up a spot on one breast. Nothing could be felt on breast examination and nothing showed up on ultrasound. How worried should I be? It's two weeks until the results.

Most lumps are benign & when they aren't benign, it's ideal they are as small as possible. Yours so small it couldn't be felt. I would have said your prospects for low harm from your lump are very good

Thanks so much for the reply. I was thinking that because it's small, hopefully it's nothing too scary, but wasn't sure if small is necessarily good!

Hi, I've just had the same. Went for mammogram on Sunday, was called back in for another one of a targeted area. Nothing can be felt by hand, was hard to find on ultrasound but she did in the end. Had to biopsied and waiting for results.
It's an agonising wait isn't it. I hope all turns out OK for us.

thedevilsavocado · 04/02/2022 06:38

Yes, it's the waiting that is so hard. I have a result appointment in two weeks, so will just have to try to keep busy till then. I hope you are ok.

Waiting is the hardest bit. Most referrals to the breast clinic are for benign reasons, yours sounds like they are just being extra cautious which is a good thing. I had a mammogram yesterday, my first one after breast cancer treatment last year so I too am waiting for results. I actually feel more nervous about this one than I did last year waiting for the original diagnosis. Please be reassured that if you do need any treatment it will be swift and efficient and breast cancer is one of the more successfully treated cancers. I cannot praise the NHS enough for the treatment I received, all of the staff were so kind and caring. Good luck.

@steppingcarefully thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I hope your result is good news and it's great to hear you are being well looked after. The staff I saw yesterday were all lovely, I did think thank goodness for the NHS.

Had a phone call today to say that there is nothing to worry about, it's a benign cyst. Phew!

That’s great news. I also have had the all clear one year on. Such a relief!

Haggisfish3 · 17/02/2022 22:01

Phew!

thedevilsavocado · 18/02/2022 06:32

Lovely news! @justalittlebit10 have you heard anything yet?

@thedevilsavocado unfortunately mine wasn't good news. It's triple negative breast cancer :( I am in for surgery on Monday. I'm so glad you got good news :)

Flatandhappy · 18/02/2022 09:34

@Justalittlebit10 so sorry to read that. My life was also turned around by a shock breast cancer diagnosis but three years on (following chemo, surgery and radiation) I am still here and enjoying life 😊 Good luck for Monday xx

thedevilsavocado · 18/02/2022 09:37

@Justalittlebit10 I am so sorry to hear this. I hope that you are being well looked after and that your surgery goes well. Take good care, I will be thinking of you.

I'm also waiting.

Do they always phone with good news or do they honour appointments with good or bad news?

thedevilsavocado · 26/02/2022 08:00

I have a friend who got good news at an appointment so I think it all depends. I think my phone call was because my cyst does not need anything doing to it, sometimes I think they drain them?
