Do any of you have veneers and regret having them?

Cut a long story short. I had four veneers put in about 15 years ago. I did it for cosmetic reasons as i had a wonky smile it affected my confidence and it seemed like a good idea at time. Invisilgn wasn't as big then.

I have always been happy with results I think of them as my own teeth. Very natural. During lockdown, one cracked and it came away. My front tooth. Revealing the very small tooth underneath.

I found it very stressful. I am no longer near my original dentist who carries out the work and as it came as a shock I had to seek out someone new to carry out an emergency replacement. This was during lockdown.

I did some research. Most dentists want to replace them all at the same time to achieve symmetry. It's about 5k to replace them all.

My own dentist has advised me that replacing one out the existing tooth under a lot of stress and so to wait as long as possible as I'm only relatively young (41)

It can lead to premature problems such as root canal etc and as I'm youngish he thinks I should wait.

I am thinking about it all of the time. What if it happened on holiday or god knows what inconvenient time? Is there ever a good time to lose a tooth?

Do I sit tight and have them done individually with the risk of not achieving symmetry or just have them all replaced but risk my teeth underneath.

I could have another 5-10 years from the originals? My replacement is ok. Not as natural as others but it's not terrible.

What should I do? Can any dentists advise? Or anyone else been in a similar situation?

Thanks in advance

I had a brace on my teeth as a teen and when it came off my teeth had stained yellow. I had veneers put on when I was 17 (1992). It was covered by NHS because I was still at school but told they might need replacing in 30 or so years but would only cost around £30 a tooth (I had 6). Here we are now 30 years later. They will never be replaced unless I win the lottery. It's now several £1000s per tooth. Money I simply do not have. I can barely afford a standard dentist check up (can't get a NHS dentist now). They are chipped and faded (so look a bit 'grubby').
They don't cause any pain or anything - they just look crap. I wish I had kept my yellow teeth tbh.

Oh no :( it's so expensive to replace them.
Great that yours are still all in tact after so long though? Fingers crossed you get as long as possible! It's a cost/headache we could do without. I would never tell anyone to get them knowing what I now know! Good luck 🤞

My non veneered teeth are the ones more in a fairly crappy state. I had to have one removed a couple of years ago. The roots had cracked or something. It was so painful but having it removed the pain instantly stopped and it was wonderful Grin. I kept the tooth - although the tooth fairy doesn't visit when you are a grown up.Sad

I have a dodgy front tooth and my dentist - who I trust - advised me to avoid veneers. For the reasons above

Is there not a coating that can be applied now?

Thievesoil I think there is a sort of paint that can be put on now if it's just to make the teeth whiter.
