I have had what the dr diagnosed as eczema on my eyelid since Xmas. It is red and itchy and has made my eyelid swell 😭 I’ve used the steroid cream prescribed for the 10 days allowed and it’s done nothing!

Has anyone successfully gotten rid of this and how? Or is it here forever!!

@Antares444 I’ve just bought this, thank you! I had a secondary issue emerge over the weekend which was a large lump on my eyelid that caused my eye to swell and was very painful. A warm compress and using the gel seems to be sorting it out. Not sure what it was but very disheartening as it was almost healed until then!

It does sound like blepharitis especially as you now have a chalazion (the lump). I've suffered for years and years. It's horrible.

I clean my lid margins every morning and evening with saline and a cotton bud (you need to be quite firm, it clears any debris and helps to massage away any slight blockages of the glands) and always remove every scrap of makeup at night.

I also don't use anything other than wipes and water around my eyes. Rice in a new sock or end of a pair of tights heated in the microwave is helpful to express the glands and prevent blockages, but don't make it too hot as this can also irritate the lids.

I’ve just bought an eye mask that can be heated or cooled so hoping that helps. Is it ok to moisturise my eyes or not now? Im worried all the washing is drying the skin out but also worried about blocking the pores.

My Mum suffered terribly with this for many years when in her 30’s and 40’s. She was prescribed steroid cream but it damaged the skin making it even more vulnerable in the longer term.
For her, the things that helped were avoiding eye makeup, rehoming our dog 😢😢 and giving up smoking.

I have had this a couple of tomes recently. I think it's a khiels cream that sets it off. So red and itchy and then the swelling. And then the dryness. It's awful.

Diprobase is what works for me. It really soothes and moisturises. Vaseline is a definite no. I tried that first but it made it worse.
