Help. just noticed DD1 has head lice. Have been lucky as she has never had them before so I have no idea what works? Have a nitty gritty comb so just about to do that. Is there anything else that REALLY works? HELP!!TIA.

Just looked for some advice and found this!!! DD has been quite lucky 'til now. Had the odd one or two but we have been lucky enough to catch them early!!!

All was OK when she broke up from school, but then the Sunday before Xmas she went riding (been waiting 2.5 years for a slot with Riding for the Disabled) got her out the bath that Sunday night and the crown of her head was covered in the bloody things! Been conditioning and nit picking ever since, think we have the last of the live ones out and I the next day you find another. I spent an hour this morning going through and picking out tiny eggs....

The Riding school didn't seem that bothered when I phoned them! But I can't possibly go back there and use one of their riding hats- she has only been going a couple of weeks but I feel I have no option but to buy DD her own hat....once we have got rid on these blasted nits, I can go try some on her!

I thought that combing through with nitty gritty comb and dry hair was the way to go? The gloopier the conditioner, the more effective it is at stunning the mummy/daddy lice. Water makes it less gloopy iyswim.

sorry meant conditioner on dry hair, not dry hair.
that doesn't work at all oh no.

Hedrin is great! only think that has ever worked for my lot. Apparently you can get the nitty gritty comb on perscripstion (sine it costs a tenner might be worth a try) but nothing beats checking their heads every time the wash their hair. we did try tea tree oil and lavender oil mixed with olive oil and washed out with vinegar - bu trust me Hedrin is better
