Anyone else feeling weirdly tired constantly?

Ofnoteandnightmares · 26/01/2022 17:46

It's not healthy diet (check) exercise (check) enough sleep (check) or any kind of thyroid problem / iron deficiency / vitamin D deficiency etc. Nor is it long covid.

I don't know if it's just the endless cold, grey days, on top of the last two years of craziness, but is anybody else finding themselves tired/fatigued for no reason?

People can have different ideas of what is an ideal amount of sleep, (and still, everyone needs different amounts). How many hours do you get?

Firkinhavinalaugh · 26/01/2022 17:54

By 4pm I’m shattered!

Frenchfancy · 26/01/2022 17:58

You say not a vitamin D deficiency but are you actually taking supplements? I used to dismiss the idea but I have taken it this year along with magnesium and it's made a massive difference.

Marmite27 · 26/01/2022 18:01

Oh god me! As soon as I sit down I fall asleep.

Last night I had another 9h 15m night, and I’m still tired.

This is last week so I’m hardly lacking sleep! @

Have you had blood tests? I spent 3 years gradually feeling crapper and crapper, constantly exhausted. Turns out I was massively deficient in folic acid. 6 month mega high dose prescription and feel loads better.

Marmite27 · 26/01/2022 18:03

And I take a multivitamin, vitamin d & c and have marmite on my toast everyday, so not lacking in anything. I have a minimum of 6 portions of fruit and veg and drink 2L liquid a day. I drink decaf, avoid fatty food, run 15k a week, I do a minimum of 70k steps a week. I just can’t work it out.

Ofnoteandnightmares · 26/01/2022 18:03

8 hours minimum a night and yep, I take Vitamin D supplements! Interesting about the magnesium though, what are they for?

I've been tired since 1986.
Not helpful I know, just a statement of fact.

Neilsfavouritechilli · 26/01/2022 18:06

I'm with the OP on this, my blood tests have all come back normal. I sleep for 9 hours a night but I'm always exhausted. I'm blaming a grey January. I take magnesium, iron and B something supplements but I cant shift the fatigue. Vitamin D is my next step although my levels are apparently in range.

AtrociousCircumstance · 26/01/2022 18:08

How old are you OP? Peri-meno?

Ofnoteandnightmares · 26/01/2022 18:09

@foggygreyday - not within the last couple of years for anything related to this particularly, but I have previously come up as Vit D deficient, which is why I know.

@Marmite27 I know - I'm doing all the things that they say to do also! It's so frustrating.

@Firkinhavinalaugh Afternoons hit me hardest too

Iron deficiency. It’s could well be that.

Ofnoteandnightmares · 26/01/2022 18:10

@AtrociousCircumstance 33!!

@thistimelastweek LOL

If you have blood tests it’s worth asking for a copy yourself. What the NHS classes as normal/acceptable for various markers may be at the very lowest level and suboptimal for you.

belimoo · 26/01/2022 18:15

I agree with @Cornettoninja The NHS will tell you your levels are normal when you could be on your knees with low ferritin or B12 (I was). For example, ferritin should be above 50 for optimum energy and I feel tired if it's under 30 but the 'normal' range is anything above 11.

Ofnoteandnightmares · 26/01/2022 18:28

I’ll do that - but am I wrong in thinking that a healthy balanced diet should be delivering most of these nutrients?? That I shouldn’t be low. Other than vitamin D of course.

Which app is that please marmite?
MrsDeaconClaybourne · 26/01/2022 18:37

Me too post Christmas. Thinking peri/menopause. I'm 46

ringoutthebells · 26/01/2022 18:52

It's often not just about diet, it's about your body's ability to process the nutrients correctly, often lacking. Vitamin D supplements (esp by themselves) often do not translate in the body as they are intended. Gut health is a common cause.

Marmite27 · 26/01/2022 20:56

@Cheekypeach

It’s through my Fitbit.

79abbot · 26/01/2022 22:01

Could it be Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)?
