Ball of foot pain - sudden, struggling to walk :(

Hi,

Didn’t know which forum to post in, last week I tried to do more walking. Friday I had a rest day and didn’t do as much. The friday night after returning from being in town, I stood up and it felt like there was a stone jagging into my right foot on ball. I checked, nothing. Since this I have had sensations of burning, pins and needles and I’ve applied rest but it’s hurting a lot when I’m walking and even on rest, it’s definitely aggravated.

Last summer I did my achilles in and its same foot but I have recovered kind of ok with achilles as only feel pain now and again (tendinitis)
Today I seen my GP over this and she seemed unsure and told me to return if it bothers me in few weeks, I’m feeling frustrated as just don’t know! Can anyone relate? Or is there someone else I should see!

Medial sesamoid stress fracture, or, sesamoiditis.

Rest in both cases, possibly even a darco shoe

lana29 · 25/01/2022 22:12

@FixTheBone Should these both heal pretty quickly? Do you work with feet? (Just by user or nope!) thank you

Stress fracture should take 6-8 weeks if completely rested.

Sesamoiditis can be very variable, from days to months. Sometimes requires a further look, occasionally a steroid injection, and very, very rarely surgery.

@FixTheBone The doctor did touch the feet and because I didn’t scream she said it’s unlikely fractured, but unsure if that’s 100%

Seamoditis is the worry, I hope I wouldn’t need surgery. Is this something NHS would touch and just know my GP would maybe fob me off! :(

Gout?

Gingernaut · 27/01/2022 00:54

If you stand on tiptoe, does it affect your toes?

Morton's neuroma might be a possibility.

Can't be mortons based on the location of pain on the photo.

Gout is possible, usually responds well to decent anti inflammatories.

It’s gonna sound silly but I’m scared to stand on tip toes because of the pain even though it’s not at the toes area and more ball! :(((

@FixTheBone I did have Juvenile arthritis as child, then it cleared.

Back in the summer last year I done my achilles in on the same foot (right) though this new pain is focused on the ball of the foot but not the whole ball.
Definitely struggling with walking, and even laying in bed is causing niggling! :(

Sounds like Plantar Fascitis. There are good exercises to make it get better.

lana29 · 28/01/2022 15:32

How is gout treated???

Can you see a podiatrist? When I had similar they were able to diagnose me in minutes (following two trips to the hospital and one dr appt where everyone came away clueless 🙄)

I’m hoping to see a NHS one in few weeks but trying to get slotted in, that’s awful, how is the pain now??
