Indigestion or should I see a doctor?

I've had what I thought was indigestion for a couple of days, took rennies and drank lots of water and it seemed to ease off.
I woke up about half an hour ago and I'm in so much pain.
It's in the middle/ left of my stomach, just below my ribs.
I've taken rennies but it's not done anything and I'm struggling to drink water without feeling like I'm going to vomit.
Would I be dramatic to go to the urgent care clinic in the morning if it doesn't pass?
Is this just indigestion?

Go. Don't walk. Run. Could be appendix. Could be gall stones. Go get care. Good luck hope it's a wasted journey but just go. Now. Please for your sake. Good luck 🤞

Get it checked
My first thought was gallstones - the pain they cause is unbelievable

Monty27 · 22/01/2022 05:06

Are you back home yet OP? (There's no time to waste)

teezletangler · 22/01/2022 05:11

My first thought is also gallstones. They can be incredibly painful and the pain is often made worse by eating / drinking.

LoveFall · 22/01/2022 05:12

I agree get medical attention asaP. That sounds like it could pancreatitis, which is very painful and needs medical attention for sure.

Sorry you feel so bad. Hope you get the right help soon.

Thank you. Our nearest A&E is only open 9-5 Mon-Fri (I wish I were making that up but it's true) but there's an urgent care clinic at my gp surgery that opens at 8 so I'll go then.
Is it even worth calling 101?
I'm going to feel like such a twat if it's just trapped wind or something.

Don't feel like a that.. hopefully it is something non serious..but you are in pain and you need to rule out anything that is serious

BlackAlys · 22/01/2022 07:22

DD called me during lockdown at 4am with the same pain as you described. Asked if I had any acid suppressants or gaviscon. Drive to her immediately as she sounded in pain and on arrival, she was doubled up in pain. Drove her to A&E instead and she had her appendix whipped out the same day.

This level of pain is your body telling you it's in distress. Call them NOW!

They will be equally as delighted if it's wind OP, but none of us here can reassure you it's just that.

Go go go.

Marmite27 · 22/01/2022 07:24

Please go, my FIL had a very nasty illness that started with indigestion.

rainbowstardrops · 22/01/2022 07:55

Definitely get it checked out. Hope you're feeling better soon.

AlexCabot · 22/01/2022 08:40

Currently waiting at the clinic. Ironically the pain has eased off now.

Severe acid reflux apparently. I've got some tablets and I've got to make an appointment to get a referral as the doctor thinks it may be caused by a hernia.

Glad you got it seen to.

BritInUS1 · 22/01/2022 10:47

I have this and have to take anti gastric tablets

Try avoiding alcohol and fatty / spicy foods as much as possible. Also, prop your side of the bed up or get a wedge pillow, this will help - sleeping flat makes mine a lot worse

The pain is horrible, so I sympathise

Avoid all my favourite things then!

Thanks for the advice, definitely getting a new pillow.
