Woke up with everything 'rolling' feeling really off

This morning I woke up with my alarm as usual but when I opened my eyes it was like everything was rolling, not really sure how to describe it but like moving horizontally on a loop?! When I closed my eyes I felt slightly dizzy and it eventually lessened then stopped. Probably lasted a minute or so all in.

I then felt really dizzy and off balance and anything but lying perfectly still made everything seem off. Even moving my head a little.

Over the course of the morning this has eased off and I'm now just feeling out of sorts, a little off balance and my head, neck and shoulders hurt a bit.

I had covid over Christmas, was really wiped out by it and haven't felt properly well since, although was starting to get a bit better so wondering if this is just some other covid side effect or something else.

Waiting for a call back from the doc so thought I'd ask if anyone had anything similar while waiting Smile so tired of feeling rubbish.

Ear infection? Labyrinthitis? Vertigo? Have you ever suffered from migraine?

annamorgana · 22/01/2022 07:06

Vestibular migraine? I had this one Wednesday - one side of my head felt like it was splitting open, plus dizziness and vertigo (keeled over on the way to the bathroom), nausea, vertigo and still exhausted 2 days later.

JohannSebastianBach · 22/01/2022 07:09

I was thinking inner ear infection (labyrinthitis). Although I had it a few months ago and I was throwing up because I was so dizzy.
If it happens again get checked out.

schmalex · 22/01/2022 07:43

Sounds like vertigo. I had this last year - it lasted for a week or two and then just disappeared.
Speak to your GP - they can prescribe an antihistamine that can help.

CluckingFunts · 22/01/2022 07:49

BPPV a type of vertigo.

YellowMoonbeam · 22/01/2022 14:47

Thanks all for your replies.

Doc has advised either labyrinthitis or BVVP so just need to ride it out, but have anti sickness tablets to help.

Yep BPPV mine started a couple of weeks ago now. Still having dizziness although the spinning has gone. Dr thinks the dizziness now is due fluid in my inner ear so definitely don’t be afraid to go back if it doesn’t settle soon.
Feel better soon!

CluckingFunts · 22/01/2022 16:48

You can try the Epley manoeuvre (it’s on you tube) I do this when I have episodes and it works for me. My Consultant showed me how to do it.

CluckingFunts · 22/01/2022 16:49

It’s for BPPV.

defnotadomesticgoddess · 22/01/2022 16:54

I’ve had this it was awful, the anti sickness tablets helped and rest really helps. Not sure if the doc told you but you can’t drive awhile you have this . Hope you feel better soon 💐

I have had this and got diagnosed with high blood pressure. I take meds now and don't get the weird spinning now.
Flowers because it's a horrible horrible sensation.

ChrissyHynde · 22/01/2022 17:07

Dizziness was how I got diagnosed with high blood pressure. Woke up one morning and the whole world was just spinning.

YellowMoonbeam · 22/01/2022 18:52

Thanks all. It's no where near as bad today just sort of headachey and blah feeling today.

I do think it was BVVP as having watched some YouTube videos I am sure the sensation I had would be due to my eyes flickering like that. Was such an odd feeling.

My doc did mention if it reoccurred he could do the manoeuvre so I'll definitely get back in touch if it continues but I'm sure I'm over the worst now (hopefully)

He also mentioned not driving and even once over it and back driving again to be really careful with big head movements if reversing etc.

Thanks all Smile
