pelvic floors a nightmare - HELP!

After having ds I thought my pelvic floors were ok but now I'm pregnant again and sneezing/coughing is a nightmare. How often do I need to squeeze and how many times a day to see an improvement? Or am I doomed to pee my pants forever???

You should go and see gp/mw and see if they can refer you to a physio that specialises in pelvic floor area. They do exist and they are great. Pelvic floors are not as easy as you think and there is a definate technique.

thought I would mention it when I go to midwife in a couple of weeks, but was hoping for an easy fix. Is it common for pregancy to make them worse? Seems the bigger the baby gets the worse it is.

After dd1 has a bladder prolapse and had pretty hefty pelvic floor lesseons. No probs until dd2. Got a bad cough when about 30wks and had to ge=o and buy some pads. Now after more pelvic floor no problem, so it's worth doing it properley.

you should try to do 10 short squeezes and 10 long squeezes (where you hold for as long as you can for up to 10 seconds) 2 or 3 times a day... everyday... for life!!

womens health physios are fantastic and can teach you the technique properly!

pregnancy does make it worse though as theirs so much presure being put on your bladder (womband bladder are next door neighbours!) you may not notice a difference until after the birth, but vital in order for it to improve after the birth

thank you. Nice to know there is hope for me yet and to understand why it seems worse now I'm pregnant. Will definitely mention it to midwife as am having to use pads while I've got this bad cough - not nice.
