Hair loss - how much is too much?

I've recently moved to my first non-carpeted place and holy crap I am astounded by the amount of hair I shed, to the point I'm asking this.

I find it EVERYWHERE. I hoover probably twice a week and still get driven mad with all the hair on my floor and under my feet. I sit on the toilet and leave a few strands behind every time. I find it in my freshly washed clothes, in my food, in drawers, in my dishwasher. We bought a hoover for pet owners (we have no pets) and I've still had to cut rolls of my hair out of it multiple times.

I haven't noticed any actual thinning on my head, but I do have thick hair. So I don't feel like I should be concerned - except that I know it can be a side effect for other things. My mum lost patches of her hair due to stress when I was younger - so although I've never noticed any visible effects on myself, the thought's always in the back of my head (no pun intended Hmm)

Otherwise I'm in pretty good physical health, mental health isn't wonderful but it never has been. I'm in my twenties so hormones should be pretty stable, though I could sort of fit myself into the symptoms for PCOS if I wanted to. I give blood so my iron levels are checked regularly, I've only ever been too low once and that was a few years ago.

Any clues on whether this is normal or if I should look out for anything else? Thanks!

In my 20’s I started losing hair which I thought was a lot.
Turns out it was related to an underactive thyroid. I wish I’d spoken to the Dr earlier. As it was, by the time I actually went, I’d lost the last 3rd of my eyebrows which have never grown back, I’d gained a massive amount of weight, gained depression, was exhausted & my self confidence was shattered forever more!
Low vitamin D and low B12/folate can also be linked to hair loss.

That said, it could just be normal for you but you are simply noticing it more as it isn’t hidden in the carpet.
