Getting a dyslexia assessment - online/private. Where to start?

We are wondering if DH is dyslexic. He’s struggling to not run out of time in exams, and can’t concentrate to read a book/feels he is very slow to read.
Is there any free online gateway type assessments online he can do, or a paid for online assessment as a screening. And then any suggestions for any private companies to test for this? Assuming adult diagnosis On NHS is super difficult at the best of times and needs to be sorted quickly with current job. And if it’s not dyslexia, then will look into advice on how to improve his reading speed.

Not sure what area you are but we used this lady for ds 13, she came highly recommended locally and was brilliant with ds.
Give her a call and I'm sure she would advise, I had several long phone calls before she saw us for a screening and she was a huge help.

We used a local private educational psychologist who was recommended by a friend. We had to wait about 6 weeks as they were booked up, but then the assessment took about half a day with a summary of findings straight after, then the full report a week later. We were pleased with the amount of information we received.
DS school had already done a basic assessment through their EP that indicated he needed exam adjustments and 25% extra time but we hadn’t the detail to understand what was actually affecting him and wanted clear information for transition to college.
The focus was dyslexia but the report also included assessing him for related SEN and highlighted memory processing issues too. He explained to us tools/techniques that might help DS or cause problems and why. It was extremely useful. Cost £400 which wasn’t cheap, but we felt well worth it for what we got from it.

So from those it looks like an educational psychologist is what I need and around £400. Any online recommendations or screening tools to see if that’s the right direction first?

We used Indigo Dyslexia Centre and had a full diagnostic report which was a bit more expensive but not £400 for our son. The do a screening service for £50 + VAT but it is not a proper diagnosis. They did provide services for adults and children.
