I've had a mammogram two weeks ago. It came back with a cluster of microcalcifications showing up in one particular part of the breast. The Consultant has told me it needs biopsying and could go either way. How do I stop myself completely being eaten alive by anxiety.

@Edl during this set of investigations, the U/S wasn’t helpful.
first I went to the mammo dept and a guide wire was inserted in the direction of the calcification cluster. Remember the location made a stereotactic biopsy impossible, but with multiple position changes they got a guide wire close. With the wire in place, I was escorted to the day surgical area. Admitted and eventually had surgery.
it was a full ten days till the results were back. In my case the results were negative, I was told the tissue was scar tissue, which wasn’t an uncommon finding in that area, the tissue was in no way related to injury or indication of further development of cancer.
pain was minimal, down time from daily routine minimal (exercise longer).
I was emotionally a bit of a mess.

Thank you for the response .

I did 2 mammograms and they found the microcalcifications. But not in the ultrasound.

i am really starting to panic because I do get pain under my arm and shoulder blade . It’s stressing me out because now I think it’s all related and thinking the worse case scenario.

@Edl the mammogram machine and the U/S machines use different technologies and that’s why they pick up different issues. I have a few tiny (grain of rice sized) breast cysts (so I’m told as they are to tiny to feel). These are not seen on the mammo but are on the U/S.
hopefully your follow up appointment happen soon and you can be reassured.
my follow up involved every 6 month mammos x 2 years.
