I was diagnosed with endo 5 months ago.I had a laparoscopy on Thursday to drain a cyst (10 cm)from my right ovary. All went well but they have noticed i have adhesions but didnt remove any.I have a ds who is 30 mths and would really like to try for another child. Can anybody tell me if my 'problems' will hinder me ttc?Does endo make infertile or more at risk from miscarraiges? What should be my next step forward.Any advice or stories will be fantastic!
Thank you.

Hi.
I had endo and was diagnosed when failed to conceive after trying for ages (19months). I had a laparoscopy and the surgeon lasered some off and baby no.1 was conceived the following month! It can def affect fertility but if they didn't remove the lesions they may not be in a place that would affect you. Try googling endo - you'll get loads of info that way.

MY friend has endometriosis & conceived after 6 months with DD 1 but when trying for no 2 it took her 2 years . It can affect fertility not sure about miscarriage though. DD 2 is due in March .

I too am an endo sufferer diagnosed Dec 06. My family is complete - I have 3 children and did have troubly conceiving but it did happen eventually!

The best piece of advice I can give is to point you in the direction of a book written by Dian Shepperson Mills - called A key to healing and fertility through nutrition! - Yes you heard the title nutrition and not drugs! The woman is amazing! Loads of success stories from people following her eating advice and then becoming pregnant.

Good luck

I discovered I had endometriosis while pregnant with DS1. I had a laparoscopy while pregnant and my doctor said it was the worst endometriosis he had seen. I had lazer treatment after giving birth which reduces the amount of endometriosis. Then, I did not leave it too long before trying to get pregnant, and I had no problems getting pregnant a second time - I think it depends on exactly where it is located. I have never heard of endometiosis increasing miscarriages. So good luck and do not worry.

the hosp gave me a weeks worth of diclafenic and they have been fantastic. When i was in the recovery room a registrar tried giving me an injection to help stop the cysts coming back(hopefully)as we hadnt discussed it before i refused- glad i did as i was later told i couldnt concieve while i was on the injection.not very pleased they tried to do it while i was still really out of it.

Endometriosis is infact the second most common gynae problem seen in women after fibroids. It can also be very much under diagnosed.

You have my sympathies - endo is truly horrid to have. Looks like they drained from you what is quaintly termed a "chocolate cyst" - this is an endometrioma. Its called chocolate because that's its colour.

Have they informed you where the adhesions are sited?.

Think as well the registrar behaved pooly treatment wise post your operation and I would complain about this aspect of your care. You should at the very least have received a follow up appointment about a week post op to discuss the findings of the lap operation.

You will need to educate ourself further re endometriosis as it is certainly in your interests to be informed on endo. You certainly need to find a specialist gynae with up to date knowledge re endometriosis and its treatment management. Not all gynaes are by any means any good in this particular area.

www.endo.org.uk is a good UK charity website to look at, it has a both an informative and lively message board. There is also a helpline number you can call.

Would also suggest you read "Endometriosis and Fibroids" written by the National Endometriosis Society.

thanks attila.
I found out the basics of end but the sites you have suggested will certainly help.It was a chocolate cyst and that area was discussed with me.I will persue a follow up appt sooner than they have suggested. Many thanks.
