Has she got a temperature?

My dd1 had a swollen face with sinusitus - she needed the emergency doctor and antibiotics. She also had a very high temperature, and was lethargic and I would have taken her to a&e if there hadn't been an emergency GP.

I would take her to A&E and get her checked out - hope she is ok

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 23/12/2007 10:33

Yes A&E if you can't get hold of an emergency doctor. But she certainly needs to see a doctor today as the infection is progressing rather then getting better.

JacanneAbox · 23/12/2007 10:38

If she has a temperature it might be worth ruling out this on orbital cellulitis - not trying to alarm you but I'd be contacting A&E too I think.

OhLITTLEFISHofBethlehem · 23/12/2007 10:42

BSD - get her up to A&E just to be on the safe side, unless you can get her in with the out of hours GP.

Let me know if you want me to have ds.

Red and puffy face is not a symptom of conjuntivitis. Another vote for A&E

thanks for all the replies and thanks for the kind offer littlefish

she doesn't have a temperature so hopefully it's nothing more serious. phoned the out of hours gp and the primary care centre will see her at lunchtime. the nurse said she will prescribe some anti-biotic eye drops for her, so hopefully those will work.

poor dd tho, feel really sorry for her, poorly on her first christmas

hope she gets better soon. If the eye drops don't help, don't hesitate to get in touch with a doctor, especially if she develops a temperature.

OhLITTLEFISHofBethlehem · 23/12/2007 15:56

How did you get on?

HabbiChristmasToBu · 23/12/2007 16:07

Can you ask for ointment rather than drops? Doesn't sting, and stays in the eye better if they cry. Hope she's ok.

Pannacotta · 23/12/2007 16:09

Are you breastfeeding still? You can put breastmilk into her eyes and it really helps heal conjunctivitis.
Hope your DD is ok.

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 23/12/2007 16:10

I think that's what she's been doing Pannacotta.

Pannacotta · 23/12/2007 16:27

sorry just read thread title and not much else and missed the ref to b-milk, just knew it can really help, hope things improve, stressful to have this happen at Xmas
