Blood Pressure Meds Experiences

Hi Everyone 👋

Has anyone had any experiences with the bp meds- nifedipine or labetalol?

I've been on them both now for 7 weeks after developing high blood pressure after having my baby. And ever since I have been experiencing dizziness, spaced out feeling/brain fog and bad fatigue- heavy arms and legs, breathlessness with exertion and randomly feeling congested too. I thought it was just I needed time to recover from birth etc but it's still there. Docs are trying to imply I have post natal depression and anxiety but I'm seriously wondering if its my medication causing this!

Anybody experienced anything similar please?

I have unexplained high blood pressure with huge peaks and troughs. As another poster said there are SO many blood pressure tablets out there that it is hard to get right, and you are probably on the wrong ones for you, or the wrong strength. If you feel this is the case, I would insist pretty much immediately that they change them. I've had Amlodipine and Ramipril (Amlodipine made my legs swell up - but nothing other than that to reassure a PP) and Bendoflumiziade. I am now on Doxasozin, Losartan, Bisoporol and Indapamide. Bisporol is a weird one at it seems to make your heart flutter sometimes) At one point I was prescribed Pregabilin, which gave me the exact symptoms you describe, terrible dizziness, fainting, tiredness, confusion. I felt dreadful. I found out that it was a drug that is prescribed for anxiety (which I don't have, and never had - don't let them talk you into this !). Go back and insist they change them. You do need to monitor your BP though so you know that a) you are feeling OK or better with the tablets and b) that they are actually working. BP drugs are generally "for the good" - fine if you can lose weight, stop salt, have no caffeine, lower stress and all of the other things, but some people just have high blood pressure, and there are limits as to what you can do. Best of luck 🎄
