Covid headache just won't budge!

Nothing helps it, it's awful...I tested positive last Saturday (Christmas Day) and the headache has been there since! It just don't budge! I'm day 7 now but I'm just wondering, when does it go? Is this normal for covid to be doing this and hurting this much? I'm a bit of a worrier but I am wondering what is the norm for this, it's like a constant migraine :(

Me too. Its so awful, I keep going to bed praying it will be gone by morning. Day 7 here also!

So it seems to be a common symptom then?! I've seen a few people say the headache is awful but I just didn't know if it was normal to still have it when I'm nearly done isolating now:/ - but same! I keep hoping it will go the next day but it's definitely persistent!

Migraines being triggered after covid seem quite common too.

Do migraines feel like your head is being squeezed constantly?

I've never suffered with headaches and now in my mid 50s, but had them constantly after testing positive for COVID early December.

Have never really taken pills for stuff apart from the odd Lemsip if I had a cold.....but was taking regular paracetamol/anadin before work to ease the constant ache.

It was always worse first thing in the morning, it hurt to turn my head, cough or bend down.

Thankfully though, they've now stopped, so just had them for around three weeks after self isolation ended.

I can only assume it was an after effect, can't think of another reason they started 👍

Hope that helps 😁

I hope that's the case with mine! Headache was my worst symptom from covid and still is now, it's all I'm left with now just this awful headache!

I've had the same this week. Feels better today.

Bollindger · 01/01/2022 16:58

DD had it, very early on in all the things , drink lots, I mean lots, they said it was dehydration.

FunkyPhantom · 01/01/2022 17:10

Yep, hopefully yours will ease soon 👍

Different for everybody though, and being a top t'interweb medical expert......I believe the odd G&T helped too 😆👍

The headaches are rotten, I had covid early December and it took about 3 weeks for them to clear. Really hope you feel better soon

middleager · 02/01/2022 09:27

I'm 48 and like pp never had headaches pre Covid.

After Covid, I had headaches, usually in the morning. This was the pattern for a few weeks, but they subsided.

DayKay · 02/01/2022 09:30

Urgh I remember that awful headache. Worst headache I’ve ever had. Mine lasted 3 days. I kept taking paracetamol and drinking hot lemon with turmeric, pepper, ginger and honey all day. It’s meant to be anti inflammatory and immune boosting and I was desperate to try anything to kick it.

3 weeks?!😩 they're so painful and paracetamol doesn't even help! Maybe I should order some migraine tablets...

Had covid last January and my migraines have been hellish ever since. The illness itself wasn't too bad, but I'm averaging a migraine a week since then!
fahlahlah · 02/01/2022 09:54

I had Covid this time last year, pre vaccine, and had the crushing squeezing headache you are describing for three months. I had to keep working, as I only had three weeks' paid sick leave, and at times I was in tears with the pain. I couldn't think straight.

Hopefully it won't take that long for you Thanks

Oh my gosh that sounds like hell! I'm starting to think this isn't going to go anytime soon to be honest 😩 I'm going to order some migraine tablets today and see if they help, paracetamol doesn't touch it in the slightest which isn't great, I also work from home and staring at a screen all day does not help much

I have had covid type symptoms for about 8 days I keep testing negative on lateral flow but have had a migraine headache for a week now. It just won't shift.

Does it feel like a squeezing? Also pain behind my eyes along with it, one of the worst headaches I've ever had 😩 have you took a pcr? I think usually it would say on a lat flow but I have seen some cases where people have been negative on a lateral and positive on a pcr
OP posts:
Nomicron · 02/01/2022 11:11

Mine lasted a good week and then came back for another week a month later. I wondered if I might have got covid again as it was so bad but negative on lft and no point taking pcr as if positive it might have been still from last time.
Just about gone again now

@Anonymousxo Can you try to get a virtual GP appointment? With new migraine-like pain it would be better and safer to have your symptoms checked out by a doctor, vs ordering pills OTC. I have chronic/complex migraine so unfortunately have quite a bit of experience, and I'd be a bit worried about someone essentially self-treating without having spoken to a doctor at all...

Well I just assumed it was covid related due to still being positive and it started a few days before I tested positive, I didn't really think it could be anything else...

Anonymousxo · 02/01/2022 14:57

Called doctor, doctor said they aren't concerned as I have no typical warning sign symptoms ie I can touch my chin to my chest with no pain and I don't have flashing lights in my eyes.
Doc said typical covid/muscular and if it continues after isolation could be long covid and to get back in contact with original GP.
