I take amytriptyline but the side effects are not great. I have to lower the dose some weeks to ease the side effects then up it again.
Also prescribed painkillers but I’m trying to get off those which means upping the amytriptyline.

I currently take 4 each evening which no longer fully eases the pain. Will be trying a splint from the consultant soon.

Ach I have no idea how to. Anyway I got the night guard - from Resolution Smile in Yeovil, they specialise in Tmj. It's a solid block nti guard custom made. My last one lasted 3 years until I cracked it and I've just bought a new one. Chiro was Taunton chiropractors, by the station, the person I saw was Alex and he is fantastic and treats with acupuncture also. I highly recommend him. He made such an effort with me and I think he's become quite a Tmj specialist! You've got nothing to lose trying the online yoga. Wishing you luck, it's a rotten thing to have to deal with, but I'm proof that it can be dealt with.

Oh I saw pretty much instant relief with the Chiro. Can't remember how long I was on amatryptaline for I'm afraid - I went through most hospital departments before they said they couldn't help! I must have been on it for a month or so before giving up.

@HarleyQuinnFan what side effects do you get with it ? Gonna see how
I get on! Xx

No probs- Alex Bowling is the guy you need. But I do encourage you to try the yoga. If your nti splint just a little one that goes by your front teeth or does it fit the whole top jaw? I had one of the little ones and it didn't work, the other one was much better.

Starrr123 · 02/01/2022 16:39

@tinselvestsparklepants oo no mine is just a small one? Could u please send me a pic? And how much did that one cost ? Xx
@tintodeverano2 the amatriptyline is meant to help! Im on day 6!
Sertaline is meant to cause clenching ! And citalopram! Thats why I refused to take
It.
My oral dr said i could hve botox but he doesn’t recommend it. But im so over the pain :( where do you feel the pain too? Xx
Ah I see! I've been on sertraline for 4 months now, and it has eased up a lot, but a do ache in my jaw, which then gives me a headache. Not helped by the fact my wisdom teeth are playing up too.

Amatriptyline can take a few weeks to work - there should be a leaflet in the packet. Good luck OP. Smile
