"take with food" - but how much food?

I've been prescribed some antibiotics for an infection and the leaflet says "Take with or after food".

How much food do I need to consume?

A meal?
a banana?
a biscuit?

TIA

Literally something to soak up the tablet and stop it hitting your empty stomach. So a couple of biscuits or whatever should do it. I take 22 different medications everyday…. BlushGrin

I had this as I don’t eat breakfast but if I have to I have a couple of bites of a banana and nothing bad has happened to me or my insides.

Occasionally stuff says take after a full meal, which is different.

I wash them down with an Actimel. The instruction is designed to avoid upset stomach which can happen if certain meds are taken on an empty stomach, I think!

It also helps absorption of your stomach is already digesting food. Doesn't need to be much - biscuit, banana, half a slice of toast. I'd go with something carby rather than an apple/orange etc

It’s stop you feeling so sick mostly. I tend have large glass milk as I don’t eat breakfast or few biscuits just so something in your stomach for it to go into. Rather than 3 course meal.

I'd say a handful of food- I do a handful of cheerios, half a slice of toast, small croissant or 2-3 biscuits. You don't have to eat a meal, just more than a bite of something

first world problem the agony of not knowing what food means!! How will you cope if only half a banana is required when you should have taken a full one. WON'T ANYONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!

I usually have a few mouthfuls of milk or a Babybel
