Hell I am crying

I had 2 root canals re-done on Monday

& my front crown fell out today (well about 3 minutes ago)

Dentist is open for emergencies on Monday

Can I get it fixed now please if so how?

OP posts:
LIZS · 22/12/2007 10:24

So does that mean you can go out today and see your own on Monday ?

Katymac · 22/12/2007 10:27

I left a message to see mine on Monday - but I may not be able to according to the Dental hospital as it's emergencies only (but my dentist is private so I may be OK)

Whether I go out or not depends largely on whether I stop shaking or not & it lasts a cup of tea

heronsfly · 22/12/2007 10:42

Glad its sorted for now, hope you have a good day.

Katymac · 22/12/2007 14:47

It fell out

Should I try again?

Fab Christmas

Pixiefish · 22/12/2007 14:51

chewing gum is what my friend - a dentist- recoommends

CountessDraculaboredofxmasname · 22/12/2007 14:52

Do you not have a hospital with an emergency dental clinic near you? Don't know where you live

Katymac · 22/12/2007 14:54

I'm in Norfolk & I rang the emergency dental clinic & apparently it's cosmetic not emergency

Katymac. You should try to keep the crown in as much as possible between now and dentist, or the root/gum bit will rise up into the gp and it will need trimming later, or may be a rubbish fit and need doing again. You don't want that.
Keep it in when you can, take it out to eat, in case it sticks to something and you swallow it - I have a loose one at the front, but it is in the lower jaw so not so noticeable as a top one. I am a veteran
I take it out to eat. See your dentist if they will let you on Monday.
It doesn't take them long.
But please do bear in mind that sometimes the out of hours service is a 3 hour wait for people in absolute agony, so be sensitive and let the groaners in before you

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 22/12/2007 14:58

sorry gap, and the crown might need trimming.

CountessDraculaboredofxmasname · 22/12/2007 14:59

I would ring them back and sob down the phone. Tell them you have some kind of dental phobia and you may hack your head off if they don't see you, they will have to then

Katymac · 22/12/2007 15:00

I don't care how long I wait
I don't care how much it costs

I just want my tooth back

I am crying again

I look like a toothless old hag

Will chewing gum really work?

OP posts:
CountessDraculaboredofxmasname · 22/12/2007 15:01

I am serious
ring them and sob hysterically down the phone

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 22/12/2007 15:01

I do understand the OP's problem, it is horrible to be toothless, but it is way worse to have an abscess or infection and really, really need that out of hours service. People coming in with 'cosmetic' issues make them really fed up, and then they tighten up the rules for those of us who really need the service. Sorry, just had to mention.

Katymac · 22/12/2007 15:02

I was crying when I sopke to them

The lady was fab & she talked me through the glue stuff but if I turn up with no blood/gore they will just turn me away

They have no appointments left at all

OP posts:
TwinklyfLightAttendant · 22/12/2007 15:03

..and I really doubt they will see you, unless you can bribe them as if they are anything like our lot they will just laugh. Tis not easy to get non painful things sorted here...

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 22/12/2007 15:04

I am sorry Katy. It is awful, ~I know, I have been there.

Katymac · 22/12/2007 15:04

I coped with the abscess better than this (that's why I needed the root canals re-done)

I am very dental phobic anyway - I hate teeth

I will have to miss church tomorrow I couldn't sing like this

OP posts:
CountessDraculaboredofxmasname · 22/12/2007 15:04

oh if you don't care how much it costs then look in yellow pages I bet you will find a private one that does emergencies for a fortune
where do you live I will google you one

Katymac · 22/12/2007 15:06

Between Norwich & Great Yarmouth

I tried but got no-where (but then I am feeling under the weather - so to speak)

OP posts:
CountessDraculaboredofxmasname · 22/12/2007 15:12

try these

Katymac · 22/12/2007 15:17

I rang 3 so far - closed until 2nd Jan - typical

OP posts:
Katymac · 22/12/2007 15:27

Are we sure superglue won't work?

OP posts:
DuckyLover · 22/12/2007 16:29

I had a crown break into 3 pieces - superglue stuck the crown itself back together and also stuck it back to the post in my gum ?

It's certainly worth a try !

puccaupunderthemistletoe · 22/12/2007 16:37

My mum and dad always used superglue to fix crowns back in, and it always worked.

Give it a try, have you got any?
