Half hour ago I opened small pot of chicken paste /Ham and put in sandwich, as soon as I swollowed it, the aftertaste was horrendous, now I’m so worried as it didn’t have a seal on it , I’ve smelt it and it stinks , I’ve drunk two small bottles of water to try and dilute the mouthful I ate, the smell is nothing I’ve ever smelt before like a strong liquid smell, how didn’t I notice this before I ate it, I’m immune compromised and worried, I’m going to be drinking my weight in water to try and get rid of whatever it was, has anyone ever had this happen to them, I feel so bloody stupid

@thickthighs73 does it make you feel better about yourself to be so unnecessarily nasty?

dinahsdishes · 30/12/2021 23:58

Op you'll be fine, I'm on aza and preds and have 4 weekly bloods like yours it looks like your gp is just being thorough

CambsAlways · 31/12/2021 00:06

All I can say people is my dr said get these done as urgent ASAP, the liver ones and the full blood count one I do have every eight weeks yes due to my rare liver disease and the fact I’m on azathrioprine and steriods, the others she has added to it ,
I’m on these to tabs for life and have been for many years, I’m only going by what the dr has told me, I’m feeling nauseous natrium

The whole thing seems so dramatic

GreenLunchBox · 31/12/2021 00:39

@thickthighs73
That is so nasty. Why are you still on the thread if you're not interested. Hmm

thickthighs73 · 31/12/2021 03:41

Because I’m fascinated by some of the bizarre threads of late

lljkk · 31/12/2021 10:25

Drinking water will make vomitting less painful if you get to that. So drinking some water is good/fine.

I don't get the anxiety, though. 99% chance you'll be fine. and 0.8% chance you won't get worse than a few waves of nausea or stomach ache (even if you are on immunosuppressants).

CambsAlways · 31/12/2021 10:55

Thickthighs you do not paint a very good pic of yourself, mocking people is not a very good trait to have! Says so much about you as a person! Luckily I don’t think I’m perfect! Love the username btw

How are you feeling anyway, OP? I'm guessing as no update there is no D&V, and all is well? Take care.

Fishlipandtoeface · 01/01/2022 12:36

This is a shitty thread. Is there a reason you are all implying op is a liar and dramatic? Confused this is a health forum isn’t it? To ask opinions and to post questions? You all sound horrible.

Hope you feel better soon op.

Yes, I've been wondering if you're OK, too. Hopefully, no food poisoning or anything has occurred. I'd have been in a right panic too if I'd done the same as you.

I have a (rather circuitous) story about getting ill from meat paste...

About 14 years ago, one of my children got ill with Stevens-Johnson-Syndrome (SJS) -- a rare and serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes. She had a 'mild' case but was still hospitalised and was unwell for a few weeks (all her skin was coming off).

When trying to work out what had caused the SJS, we could only conclude it was some bread with unusual orange mould (right down at the bottom of the loaf that we hadn't noticed) that had caused the reaction.

At the time, I told some people about the SJS and one of the ladies was totally shocked when she realised that years before, she had eaten some gone-off meat paste and then became very very unwell with the same symptoms. She'd had no idea what was wrong with her until now, years later, when I'd mentioned my daughter's SJS -- she then realised that was what she'd also had.

Weird. If the GP was so concerned for urgent bloods why didn’t they send you to the ED? Not sure what those bloods were looking for over and above pretty much most bloods for those on those kind of meds. There’s nothing there shouting tox screen or anything emergent.

I have those tests monthly for methotrexate.
