Just back with dd - all fine despite white pupil in photo. But they want us back in 6mths because of a potential squint (which I hadn't even noticed - could be cos I have one too!

Anyway - reason to post is nothing to do with dd's eyes - where on earth do you park when you go there? We parked miles away and I can't help but think there must be an easier option!

TIA bb xx

ding dong, where u the lady whow as concerned after discovering dd had a white pupil in a picture? and u where having trouble getting her to an optician?

NO - that was not me - a friend sent me a photo of dd at her dd's party 10 days ago. Her pupil was completely white. My GP is pants so I called the Moorfield's helpline who suggested that I pop in. They were fantastic and it is such a lovely centre - totally child friendly with play specialists to keep the little ones entertained etc. Almost restored my faith in the NHS!

I would totally recommend it - bit of a wait but all the staff were so delightful and reassured me that I had done the right thing.

Magrat - tube with a push chair from where I am is impossible. Dd is 2 but would not walk that far.

My brother works at Moorfields. [proud]
Not in front line, but he manages a lab making eye medicine.
I remember when my other brother was about 10 he had a detached retina and we also parked miles away.

I parked in the side street that is literally a minute away from moorfields, its a one way st, dont know the name...it forks into 2 at the end, hope that helps...

Magrat · 21/12/2007 20:15

I'd drive to the most suitable northern line tube station outside the congestion charging zone and tube it in ..

sorry I spent months attending moorfield, before the charge came in, and wouldn't drive it

there are parking metres though if you're determined

dingdongbelgianbunsonhigh · 21/12/2007 20:21

Thank you all - I did find a parking meter very close but it was 20p for 3 minutes ! I was in there 2 and a half hours in the end so glad I moved on!

Good idea about driving and tubing - must write to Red Ken and inform him how incredibly crap the tube is if you have a pushchair in tow!

Not sure about parking as we always tube it but have to say how fab Moorfields are, my dad had a bad acident 20 years ago involving his eye and last week he had a cornea transplant doen at moorfields.

For the first time ever he can see both of my dd's with both of his eyes and he cannot believe the difference it has made. He is so so thankful to the surgeons there

BadKittenInAPearTree · 21/12/2007 22:49

I had to go there at the beginning of the year. Do you have a backpack so you don't need the pushchair? Then go to Old St and just follow the painted line on the floor Takes you almost to the entrance.

dingdongbelgianbunsonhigh · 21/12/2007 23:08

Thanks badkitten- dd weighs nearly 15kg and woud break my back! She is 2!!

oops - sorry - missed that bit - an umbrella stroller maybe then? we used to take dd up to London at that age but it did take two of us - one for the child and one to look after the stroller.
