Has anyone used Sleepstation? I'm overseas so can't be referred by my GP. Is it worth the £250+? I've just signed up for an app at £8.99 a month first free month which seems similar.

If not what has worked for you? My sleep hygiene is good, follow the usual "rules". I'm back to trying restricting sleep. It's caused by menopause, can't take HRT as I've had breast cancer. Melatonin doesn't work for me and I don't take sleeping tablets.

TIA

Used it via GP about a year ago. Not a cure by any means but very helpful. Sleep restriction or resetting was difficult but certainly helped. Have never been a good sleeper but stress and perimenopause made me worse.

Thanks. Is it a sleep diary using restricted sleeping or is it more complex?

Starts as very restricted, then gradually expands to more normal bed times, plus exercises to help relaxation, instructions for when you can't sleep, support services. Can't remember how long the course was, maybe six weeks?

The only thing that ever works for me is Jason Stephenson insomnia talk down on you tube. Somehow he manages to talk me out of ‘trying’ to sleep and this can sometimes help… not always but sometimes.

Mercurial123 · 27/12/2021 09:30

Thanks. Not sure I want to spend so much on Sleepstation when I can do something similar for a lot less. I tried Sleeprate and have logged my sleep, caffeine intake and reading The Effortless Sleep Method. I'm also doing yoga nidra before bed.

Will try Jason Stephenson too.

I used them, referred by my GP and it wasn't a good experience for me. They are very focus on hygiene and the belief that with good hygiene, you are bound to go back to sleeping well. I already had a good hygiene.

They were not interested with my specific issues which was sleep quality and waking up many times at night.

I also found them quite belittling and often repeating the same questions I had already answered.

I would say that they are good if your issue is with sleep hygiene. If the problem is sleep quality due to other reasons, you might end up more frustrated and anxious than when you started.

Mercurial123 · 29/12/2021 14:27

vivainsomnia have you tried anything that works? My sleep hygiene is very good but still I can't get to sleep and feel like a zombie during the day. I think mine is due to the menopause.

My sleep has been dreadful, I am going through the menopause and I also have Multiple Sclerosis too. I have started on the Menopace supplement, been taking it for around a month now, and the last 3 nights have been great, slept through until 6:30am, really, really unusual for me. Usually I am awake between 2am-3am and really struggle to go back to sleep.

Wecouldbesohappybaby · 06/01/2022 23:37

Bit late to the party but I've used Sleep Station. Over the course, my sleep efficiency increased by 1% so far from a great improvement. I agree with PP, it has a big focus on sleep hygiene and massively restricting your time spent in bed. Other than a couple of relaxation techniques that I've used a handful of times since, I found the course to be of no benefit to me.

vivainsomnia · 07/01/2022 14:41

Sorry a bit late to respond. Mine is caused by the menopause.

Nothing has helped in getting me to sleep as I used to, but the best I've found is taking melatonin and an antidepressant.

That and meditation and mindfulness to an extent.

I manage just about but I'm half the person I used to be.
