How do you know what kind of breast lumps are normal?

I don't think you do.

You need to see a doctor if it is something really unusal and not the lumpy breasts of your average monthly cycle. It will probably be nothing but at least you will have some reassurance from somebody who knows.

you have to get them checked by the gp - no other way of finding out. they often err on the side of caution and get your referred - it doesn't mean anything is wrong. I have had a few checked out, and recently had a cyst. Generally if the lump is soft and mobile it is ok but you really need to get it checked to make sure. HTH.

You compare left side with right side I think? Probably best to see doctor anyway though.

Thanks.. I'm not worrying or anything but I found a pea-sized lump about a week ago, I thought it would disappear - I am breastfeeding so wondered if it might have been a blocked duct but there's no redness or pain and it hasn't gone away.

But it's perfectly round and very small and I can sort of move it around between my fingers. Fat perhaps?

it could be a cyst, it sounds a bit like my one. Or a blocked milk duct. But get the doc to check, it is always better to make sure.

It probably is. Statistically most lumps in younger women are nothing sinister. Do get it checked though so it doesn't spoil your Christmas.

If you're under 36 ish they might get you a quick ultrasound scan which will find out what it is.
