Is there anything I can do to help my thyroid while I am waiting for my second blood test

My thyroid was a bit high after covid (TSH 7,
T4 14.6) so I have to have another blood test in February

Is there anything I can do in the meantime to minimise symptoms or help it get better on its own? Maybe diet or supplements?

Grasping at straws as I feel so poorly!

Iodine supplements are supposed to help thyroid function, unless you have Hashimoto’s in which case it can have a negative effect.

Thanks - Ill have a read and see which I might have

Hopefully it will be gone by Feb

Do not take iodine supplements unless you know you are deficient. They can be counterproductive and only help in true cases of iodine deficiency.

The only thing that can help are thyroid meds which won't help yet. You are likely to have a poster viral thyroiditis so it will probably settle down on its own.

I would try to eat healthfully, get plenty of sleep and don't overdo it either with diet or exercise (both of which lower your thyroid hormone further).

You might want to check your vitamin d, ferritin, folate and b12 levels as low thyroid hormone can cause depletion in these vitamins and ca make you feel very unwell.

I have been lazy about my vitamins - I take large doses of B12, D, Methyl Folate and Iron (plus Zinc, Magnesium, Potassium and vit K at normal doses) as I'm not eating well (no appetite or energy to eat)

& I'm not sleeping so, it'll take time

Going gluten free can be helpful

Do you mind me asking what symptoms you have? My doctor has asked me to have a blood test to rule out thyroid disease.

We've just realised - I know have a continual shirt hard cough.....it's been worse this autumn but may have been around for over a year- Dr Google thinks this might be thyroid related
And my hairless has just got awful! & I have a lot of hair - I am looking more than a hairbrush full everytime I brush and hands full on the floor/chair/table/shoulder all the time - the family are finding it distressing
