How to get a PCOS diagnosis

Hi,

This is my first time posting so go easy on me.

I am certain I have a hormone imbalance. I am always exhausted. I have irregular periods, have always had excessive facial hair, also on chest and abdomen. I have had to in the past have a Fallopian tube and ovary removed due to ovarian torsion due to an ovarian cyst. I also have weight gain which I really struggle to lose. My electrolysis person is certain my hair growth is due to a hormone imbalance. My SHBG level is low, yet despite this I can't get a diagnosis or treatment. I have 3 children and sadly also had 3 miscarriages. I saw an endocrinologist years ago who was horrible and totally dismissed me.

I don't know if this is relevant but I have high inflammatory markers and high platelets which have been investigated but are currently unexplained.

Can anyone advise on what I need to do next to get a diagnosis?

If you are uk , they dont really do much for pcos unless maybe for ttc. You might then get metformin, (although some people do stay on it).
I dont think an ovarian cyst is the same, pcos is lots of little cysts.
The other treatment is the pill.
You could also check you dont have thyroid issues as they can cause weight gain.
If its pcos to lose weight cut down on things that spike blood sugar.
I dieted when doing ivf but went too far and ended up not responding to the ivf meds.
Metformin can reduce chances of miscarriage.
You may need bloods at start of cycle to see if LH is too high

Thank you, yes I am in the UK. Your response was really useful, I think my treatment expectations might have been too high! Am just fed up of feeling quite so rubbish.

I’ve had a diagnosis back in my teens through a scan of my ovaries and blood tests.

To echo the above though, they don’t really do much, just put you on the pill or metformin if you’re trying to conceive.

I’ve recently had good results on excess hair / acne through taking inositol (a supplement) and drinking spearmint tea. There’s loads of PCOS accounts on instagram that are really useful.

I will try that supplement, thanks.
