Evening all,

I burnt myself about 4 hours ago on a baking tray that I picked up before realising it was resting on a lit burner on the hob. I've been sitting with it in iced water ever since but it starts to hurt as soon as I take it out. It's my thumb and first finger affected.

Usually I'd just wrap it in gauze with antiseptic but I am really struggling. Is it worth medical attention or shall I just continue to keep it cool?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, lavender oil. Put it on neat. Sorts it pretty much immediately.

Ooh never heard that about lavender oil, that's a new one on me

Thanks everyone for the advice yesterday, I've woken up today and it still hurts but nowhere near as badly as it did. Fell asleep cradling my cold pack with my hand bandaged, and whilst it looks the same as it did, the heat has come out of it mostly I think. Just about to head off to the chemists now, will see what the pharmacist thinks.

How did you get on xxx

All good, got some burn cream and some burn dressings - pharmacist said should be ok without needing medical attention but to keep an eye and try really hard not to catch the blister on anything to avoid an open wound and infection. Recommended a tetanus injection which I've booked in for tomorrow with my GP just in case of the above (never even thought about it but I'm sure the pharmacist knows better than I do!). Feeling so much better now, not least because of everyone's support on here!

Thanks all Smile
