Am I being a worrywart?

I've just sent a message to my GP but husband says I just need to get more exercise.

The last few days I've been feeling like I'm not getting enough oxygen. I keep taking a deep breath through my mouth as I just feel I need it. My nose is not blocked, but it feels like when you wake up in the night because your nose is blocked and you can't get air. I also notice my heart racing at night sometimes, and this has been going on for months but I ignore it.

I am overweight but do get some exercise cycling 3 times a week for 20 minutes or more and going for long walks at the weekends. I'm probably 2 stone over my fighting weight. Am I being silly and I just need to exercise more and eat less?

It sounds more like stress/anxiety. If you're distracted by someone or something (say doing an activity) is it still there?

See your GP -

It’s sounds most likely anxiety to me. But, being two stone overweight not not exercising much is no physical reason to be breathless - soyou need to see your GP to check it out. (Your husband appears to be a bit thick.)

Not anxious at the moment at all. Life is pretty good (Covid shenanigans' aside). It doesn't go away when I'm distracted. It's worse when I'm wearing a mask, in fact so much so I begin to feel a bit panicky whereas I didn't when mask-wearing was compulsory before. I've just taken a quick test in case it's Covid and that's negative. Guess I'll just wait and see what quack says and step away from Dr Google.

Could be a symptom of anemia. Book a gp appointment and discuss.

sayusayme · 08/12/2021 20:07

It could be nothing but a couple of years ago my friend had the exact feeling you describe he suffered badly with anxiety but the GP told him it was hay fever.

He went to see a private GP and he needed a triple heart bypass. He was very fit but unfortunately hereditary heart problems. Totally overlooked by his own GP.

I wouldn't say your a worry wart at all, definitely get checked.

I was like this until I worked out my blood sugars were too high and went keto to control it.

mammajustkilledagnat · 09/12/2021 19:54

It's been much worse today, despite being very busy and taking kids for vaccines and being family taxi It's been way more noticeable. I was having a rant at the kids over something earlier and had to take several deep breaths to get it all out. I've gone and got a quick test from the municipality to show negative and have a dr's appointment tomorrow morning (we're not in the UK). I'm keeping my fingers crossed it's something straightforward, but have to admit I'm scared. I'm usually very healthy. I've been to the doctor's for myself twice since Covid started and both times were for an UTI requiring antibiotics so this is really out of the ordinary for me.

I'm having the same problem, I'm going for a blood test tomorrow to check for lack of iron. I've been getting a racing heart and headaches too. I'm hoping it's something non serious that some iron tablets can sort out. Get a blood test done OP I hope you feel better soon Thanks

mammajustkilledagnat · 09/12/2021 20:55

I hope that you also get some answers bowchickawowwoww . Hadn't thought about lack of iron. Have had lack of Vit D as a problem before. Wait and see.

I am just a worry wart! GP thinks it's viral and has given me an inhaler to use for now. I have never used an inhaler in my life so this will be interesting.

I'm happy to hear it's nothing too serious. You'll get used to the inhaler. I had one after a bad dose of bronchitis a while back. Get well soon OP :)
