Are there ANY iron meds which won’t wreck my stomach?

I am really quite anaemic and have been for a few years.
My HB is 9 and ferritin is 4. It goes without saying that I feel like crap.
The reason for the anaemia is years of heavy periods, I am now on a waiting list for an ablation.
In the meantime I am desperate to get my iron up but I have IBS and a super sensitive digestive system.
I can handle Spatone in a little oj but it’s not raising my levels quickly.
Ferrous fumerate, ferrous sulphate, floradix, feroglobin, better you spray etc all upset me.
Is there any other iron that I’ve missed? Is there anything I can do to raise my levels without getting stomach cramps, diarrhoea or constipation!
GP is no help, he gave me two options, take nothing and put up with the anaemia or take the tablets and put up with the bad stomach which is easy for him to say as he sits in his room with a toilet near by. I, on the other hand drive for a living and driving and the poops is not an option I fancy opting for!

Ferrous gluconate is another one that is meant to be easy on the stomach

I’ve not read the full thread but I’ve just had a massive PPH which required two transfusions and I was extremely anaemic and symptomatic. I’m very prone to tummy issues so was reluctant to take regular iron tablets so instead I’ve been taking iron+ from FutureYou Cambridge which is a gentle highly absorbable form of iron. My HB levels were increasing nicely but after another bleed they’ve dropped slightly again. Full disclosure I do work for the company but I genuinely believe in the efficacy of the products too! futureyouhealth.com/iron

Oh blimey OP, your update sounds even more like I'd written it!

I'm so glad you have been referred for an infusion, that is so good. My GP referred me and I had it within a week as the ambulatory care unit at the hospital did it.

Good luck with it all.

@FrangipanFlower I think having a traumatic thing happen like a PPH is a bit different to a long term cause of anaemia. When you've had heavy bleeding for years your stored ferritin is depleted and the body struggles to function properly. I do not doubt you felt utterly awful after it, and I hope the transfusions helped you, and quickly.
I think the amount of iron in the capsules you linked isn't enough for op to get their levels up quickly. The tablets I was prescribed were 200mg ferrous sulphate. It's the same for a lot of gentle iron products as far as I can tell, they are gentle due to the low dose of iron. For op, as her levels are so very low she needs to have an infusion. Her GPS comments made me so cross GP is no help, he gave me two options, take nothing and put up with the anaemia or take the tablets and put up with the bad stomach

FrangipanFlower Thank you, I will check those out.
101namesforme Thank you, did you only need the one infusion to feel better?
Longtompot I honestly felt awful after my gp said that to me, he has no comprehension of how it feels to have long term anaemia it has caused me so many symptoms. I thank God for the gynaecologist I saw last week.

I had one course of infusion. In my trust you get two infusions a week apart which I think is normal unless you are tiny and your levels aren’t too bad. They take 14/21 days to kick in.

Mine wasn’t a miraculous recovery but I also have a folate deficiency which has similar symptoms and a vitamin D deficiency (all due to not being able to absorb vitamins and minerals due to the IBS). Whilst it wasn’t a miraculous wow I feel brilliant recovery, it was very clear that I was no longer breathless or so ridiculously tired.

Mine is the same @101namesforme I had mine a week apart both times. I did notice a huge difference within a week in that I would walk up our not that steep hill without sounding like I smoked 20 a day.
