My hair has been falling out for the last few weeks quite drastically due to stress I do believe but I have naturally extremely thick hair so seeing these patches are devastated I'm taking the vitamins I need that may help is there anything else I can do I have had a blood test and low folate levels but have been taking folic acid for a few months now so I don't think that's the issue, any tips on how I can stop it falling out or if anyone else's hair fell out from stress how long it took to grow back.

Hair has a 6m growth cycle so if it's stress, and the stress ends, it should recover in 6m.

However, that has not been my experience when I had hair loss due to illness. It took around two years and never went back to previous thickness.

It does thin as you get older anyway.

I know how devastating it is though. Mine is fine but I always had a lot of it. Now I have a lot less and it's obviously still fine, it looks really thin and flat. The GP is unlikely to say much but do have a thyroid check if you can.

alpecin or similar shampoo to stop or slow loss, b complex vitamins, scalp massage when washing or brushing (get a good brush or massager) to stimulate blood flow to the scalp as helps it grow.

Watermans have a great reputation in one of the cancer/chemotherapy groups I’m on.

Currently cheaper on Amazon than Boots.

I had similar after going through a traumatic time. It was 6 months ago and is growing back now but it is all tufty and won't lay flat and looks ridiculous.

I did a lot of research and found that there is scientific evidence that peppermint oil helps stimulate hair growth. I believe its the only active ingredient in Nioxin shampoo, which my hairdresser recommended.

I bought peppermint essential oil, mix it with a bit of olive oil and put it on my scalp where there was hair loss every evening before bed. A lot cheaper than all the shampoos and I suspect its more effective as it's left on the hair all night rather than a shampoo which only stays on your head for a few minutes.
