Hi - I am desperately looking for a Niro logo at who cares and tries (at least) to help. My migraines are so debilitating. To date I have tried:

  • acupuncture
  • reflexology
  • homeopathy
  • Chinese herbalist
  • various diets and stopping drinking completely (I am caffeine free for the last 7 years)
  • prof endocrinologist (didn’t have any idea what to do with migraines just said they are difficult to treat)
  • neurologist (I had consultation on zoom and then he said to take some vitamins and keep diary but his secretary never sent anything to me and he was after that unreachable)
  • private GP (said go back to prof endocrinologist)

After paying so much privately for these people I feel so angry that I am still where I was suffering. How is it possible that one pays so much and gets no service at all! Huh sorry for the rant!

London pain clinic

Honestly, the only thing that has ever helped me was Botox for migraines. I went to the Migraine Clinic. It changed my life!!!!!!!!

Grumpasaurus · 30/11/2021 10:38

What helps me:

Daily dose of 4mg Candesartran (they are actually for blood pressure but reduce migraines)

5mg zolmatriptan + anti sickness drug when I get one- take at the first sign. Sometimes add codeine.

Botox every 3-6 months

Being on the mini-pill to reduce hormonal fluctuations

Before this regime, they were utterly, utterly debilitating.

I would start with your GP. They are very good at starting basic prophylaxis/ preventative treatment. The migraine Trust is good for info too.

Thanks so much everyone. I will contact migraine clinic today.
As already mentioned I have seen so many people already and it seems like I am being passed from one consultant to another.
I guess my migraines are connected to peri menopause but I read somewhere that sorting hormones alone cannot help….

Today is my 4th day of waking up with them and it is so debilitating I joist want to cry…

Migraine centre or queen's square headache clinic. You don't mention trying any prescription medications. There are an awful lot, usually takes some trial an error, also other treatments: nerve blocks, Botox, CGRPs, cefaly etc. There are a number of medications your GP can prescribe before needing to refer you on, so might be worth trying some first line treatments first as that's likely to be what a migraine specialist suggests.
