Sore Fingers - Help Please (Pic Inside)

Hi,

I was hoping someone might be able to help. I have a rash on my fingers that I'm struggling to get under control.

It is very painful, starts off as deep blisters under the skin, these then pop, leaving big holes, it dries out, peels and then bleeds as the skin split because it's so dry.

I have had 7 different creams from GP. Including steroids, antibiotic, antiseptic and anti fungal. Nothing is getting rid completely, just masking it for a little bit then it stops working and returns with a vengeance.

I wear marigolds for everything that makes my hands wet and my husband has had to wash my hair for me as my fingers and so open and sore. I also moisturise regularly to try and deal with the dryness.

Really hoping Someone may have a suggestion of what it could be.

Thanks!

I have previously been under a dermatologist for other issues and ended up on an immunosuppressant ointment but GP is refusing referral at the moment Sad

GP is refusing referral at the moment oh that makes me want to swear!!!!!

That's really disabling and needs a correct dx . And any skin condition needs early attention before it really takes hold .

My only suggestions are change GP or contact dermatology dept yourself to see if they'll see you .If it's not too long ago since you were last seen then there's a chance ..

Have you tried cotton gloves inside the Marigolds ? My DP does this ,he has skin problems and I always think sweaty rubber might be a bit of a breeding ground for fungal spores ,germs etc .

@peridito you're right! And I've just put up with it because of thinking they're snowed under etc. I will call my dermatologists PA on Monday and see if I can get anywhere.

I wasn't completely discharged from his clinic, it moved from a local community hospital to the local city hospital and as I was pregnant and managing to control the other issue without a flare up, we agreed to stop appointments but it ended on a very much 'you know where I am of you need me' tone.

Have cotton gloves and west them most of the time, especially after putting ointments on but never considered wearing them inside my marigolds. Will try that! Thanks

Scabies?

Pompholyx?

peridito · 21/11/2021 14:04

@Tightsonmyboat might be completely impossible because of work ,location but ...

my DP went in person to the dermatology clinic to ask whether he could be listed for a cancellation as hos appt was several months away and it was really hard to get through on the phone .It worked ! and he got an appointment within 2 weeks .Might have been luck or because they could see his skin ,who knows .

Might be worth a try .Your poor poor hands .

mineofuselessinformation · 21/11/2021 14:11

Looks like pompholyx to me too.

InTheLabyrinth · 21/11/2021 14:17

Ouch ouch ouch.
I have a friend that needs to avoid SLS in soap and skincare products (mainly in liquid soap and shampoo etc). It makes a massive difference to her hands.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 21/11/2021 14:19

Yep, looks like pompholyx to me. It hurts so much when it's on your fingers, worse than palms or soles of feet! I have had some success with Vitamin C serum - use it on my face and then rub the excess into my palms.

Riskyrice · 21/11/2021 14:20

Ouch this looks so painful!

It could be worth getting latex free rubber gloves to rule out latex allergy too, i get eczma on my hands ans rubber gloves were aggravating it even more.

Tightsonmyboat · 21/11/2021 16:43

Definitely looks like pompholyx so thankyou very much for the suggestions. Will see how I get on with trying to see my dermatologist.
