Lower back/coccyx pain

I've had pain in my lower back/coccyx for a week now. It's not so bad through the day - when I stand up from sitting it's a bit stiff but as the day goes on it's not bad at all, but it's terrible on an evening. It's more my coccyx than my actual lower back and by evening if I'm bending forward to reach something (say over the baby gate) it hurts! I can still bend down and pick things up etc. The last couple of days I've felt an ache down the back of my leg (sometimes left leg, sometimes right), and it's been like growing pains. My feet are up now and they're tingling a bit.

I've had 2 pregnancies (2018 & 2019 with 10 months in between) both with ELC's, had PGP during my first pregnancy and had physio for it. My DD's are 1 & 2 so still want picking up and carrying (and my word I can really feel the pain in my coccyx when lifting DD2 in and out the bath!).

I rang the GP today - she told me to take painkillers and apply deep heat or a hot water bottle, sent me a video of some exercises to do, said it could last 4-6 weeks and asked about my toilet habits, saying that if there was a loss of control of my bladder/bowel or numbness around the back passage or my legs to ring back as it would mean something sinister.

I suffer from health anxiety so that last bit really worried me.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has anything similar or has any experiences? I'm wondering about sciatica?

I had this for several years after I had a baby (traumatic birth). Eventually it went away after two rounds of steroid injections into the coccyx.

If you do lose feeling around lower regions go to the hospital straight away as that is something different, Cauda Equina Syndrome which needs urgent attention.

Thank you @Paddingtonthebear for the link, very interesting! I haven't lost any sensation or lost any feelings around any regions or in my legs but thanks for giving me an idea as to what the GP could have been referring to.

I'm driving absolutely fine, walking fine, and had no trauma. It's just strange how it's come on out of nowhere. I'm wondering if it's possible that I've pulled something around that area when picking the kids up maybe?

I should also add I could do with losing a few pounds and my posture is appalling!

Hi. I have the exact same issue and bad pgp with first born. Currently pregnant again and it’s already starting at 9 weeks (ffs)
I read an article yesterday on the daily Mail that you should read. It’s made a lot of sense to me and I’m booking into my private physio and osteopath .

My stomach separated which I believe is normal but it didn’t ever go back to normal and this can have an effect on your back and posture x

I would suggest to first see a psychiatrist to cure your anxiety - only after that you'll be able to get relief from your back pain.
