My 12 year old woke up this morning complaining of an itchy help - Yes you,ve guessed it --nits!! I needed to get his hair cut this weekend. Can I go to the barber tonight to get it cut? Will Barbers cut hair when they have nits? Not to sure what the etiquette is. Can anyone help please

Hairdressers/barbers dont usually cut hair if it has nits. You should get the shampoo/lice treatments and get rid of them. Once you do this then you can get his hair cut

Normally they won't touch it, I recently had my hair cut and the hairdresser found just one big fat lice. I was so embarrased, but luckily for me he has dc's and just carried on and teased me like mad.

When my daughter caught them we tried loads of stuff but found that "Nitty Gritty" with the special comb was like magic and avoided needing to use some of the nastier chemicals.

I think health food shops sell it and if you comb that through then it should remove any live ones and most of the eggs so he would be clear to get his hair cut. Then you need to do it again (I think after 7 days) to catch any eggs that have hatched.

Absolutely gross subject I know - but hairdressers wont cut your sons hair like this.

Get your self a bottle of HEDRIN from the chemist this is wonderful stuff! It suffocates the headlice really quickly. Then painstakingly pick eggs of hair - should be sorted. It worked wonders on my daughters hair which was shoulder length and we had tried everything previously.

Not a cheap option though I think its about £12 a bottle?
