thrush is white when in the mouth

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 14/12/2007 14:06

I'd have thought that an abcess would be painful.

maybe thrush as ggirls suggests, but this would also be painful.

How big was it? If it's not painful, and has now gone, I wouldn't be too worried.

HairyIrene · 14/12/2007 14:06

like a spot ggirlsbells?
this was like a spot
not an ulcer

iirc ds had thrush as a baby and it was more like marks..

where on your gum?

and it's gone now?

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 14/12/2007 14:14

I had one of these for a few months. It was related to a nearby tooth that had had some root work/infection, I think. Did not hurt. was scared about cancer so mentioned it to dentist, who knows me well
He said it was a mystery but not to worry. It went away. I am still alive.

LIZS · 14/12/2007 14:15

Was it below the tooth ? If so it could be a sinus(sp?)/abscess, point of infection under the tooth. I had one which indicated a dead tooth and had to have ab's , root filling and eventually a dental op. Mine didn't really hurt tbh and didn't look white all the time.

HairyIrene · 14/12/2007 15:02

oh no
could be that twinklylightattendant
am hoping you are right

yes lizs its just below tooth

crikey
will i make it alone undentistified til 2008?

inotuiced mine just before we went on holiday sumemr before last so couldn't get an appointment until about 3/4 weeks later so if it is a recent thing it can probably wait . Worth ringing now though, you can always cancel if it clears up .

HairyIrene · 14/12/2007 17:31

lizs..what did they do??

and YES it has gone and still not come back..
just dont fancy major mouth problems over holidays with this i might try and go before we leave

oh no

this year
i knew it wouldn't just melt away....
with a string of toddler christmas events train leaving next friday and all that stuff still to do....

but toothache, too dicey i guess.....

Initially I think it was an xray (to look at condition of tooth and extent of inflammation), disinfect and appointment to come back for a root filling (2 sessions). initial thread here
