ds2 (8) said last week that his back had been aching when he was sat on the mat at school (thought nothing of it)

wednesday this week he said his neck hurt and his back hurt when he breathed in. later that day it had gone fine and he even did karate.

this morning he got up fine and then after doing a bit of skipping on the way to school he looked pained and after probing him a bit it turns out it's his backs really hurting again.

teacher thinks he's putting it on but i am 100 % sure he isn't ( she's got no kids and is crap)

I would take him to GP even if it is just to put your mind at rest. He will probably prescribe nurofen or something similar and ask you to see how he gets on. Do you know if he has fallen or twisted the muscles somehow?

he hasn't done anything as i can think of. he had been colouring a picture whenn he said his neck hurt so at first i thought he had just been bent over too much but it's not that

Well, you know your child better than anyone.
He's probably strained a musotcle.
Lots of hot baths will help.

muscle

it's perplexing me how it can come and go.

feel bad now about leaving him in school, he might be sat there in agony.

ahhhhh there always seems to be something and I want them all well for xmas !!

It does sound like it's muscular! Why not give him some ibuprofen and rub a muscle cream (deep heat - not sure if you can get equivalent for children) on his back over the weekend and if he's not better by Monday, then take him to doctor.

sounds a good idea mishy. i have some massage oil, that might do it?

i'm loathe to visit our doctors. you come out worse than you went in sometimes

it wouldn't be a chest/lung thing would it? just had a thought, he has had a cold and has mild asthma??

I guess it depends where the pain in his back is - if it's around where his lungs are then it could be from a chest infection BUT I am no medical expert! If you are really concerned, then go and see your GP.

do go and check with the docs, my sister in law has just being diognoised with a tumor on her spine.

She had back ache most days. Sorry for scaring you, but best to be safe than sorry. X

Get him checked out - mummy knows best - if you feel that there there may be a physical problem then get him checked out.

I have just had ds1 to GP - told he was fine, maybe sore throat. Wasnt happy - got him in with another GP - left lung full of gunk and advised hospital admission the next day if no improvement.

I would never let go of a 'niggling feeling' go with it.
