To get or not COVID vaccine while pregnant

Hello,

I know the recommendation is to get your COVID vaccine when pregnant. But I'm really scared to get it. Anybody who didn't have it and had a successful pregnancy? Or actually any other experiences whether positive or negative?

I got mine at 38 weeks hoping to pass some immunity to the baby. No complications and my little girl is fine. Covid is very dangerous in the 3rd trimester for both mother and baby.

@whyiscakesodelicious Message deleted by MNHQ. Quotes deleted post How much evidence do you to be convinced that they know for sure? Or is it maybe not about facts and evidence? Because a non-existent risk of an unknown complication at some point in the future is more important than protecting yourself against the very real risk of catching an illness that has been proven to be very serious for pregnant women. This kind of thinking baffles me. How do you justify this to yourself and your child? What's the logic? Do you genuinely think that you can avoid getting COVID?

Im currently 25 weeks pregnant, and got Covid at 12 weeks. I didn’t need hospitalisation, but I was quite sick for 2 weeks, and took another two weeks to get back to normal. And it has definitely depleted my immune system...I’ve given the last week knocked out with a chest infection, and I am just sick of being sick!

I wasn’t vaccinated when I got Covid, as I wasn’t eligible at the time. Regardless, I was unsure about getting the vaccine. When I got Covid, I did some reading, and this is what changed my mind.

‘In pregnant women with symptoms of COVID-19, it is twice as likely that their baby will be born early, exposing the baby to the risk of prematurity. A recent study has also found that pregnant women who tested positive for COVID-19 at the time of birth were more likely to develop pre-eclampsia, more likely to need an emergency caesarean and their risk of stillbirth was twice as high, although the actual number of stillbirths remains low.’ This is from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. The doubling of your chances of still birth is what got me. There’s now a significant amount of pregnant women who have had the vaccine and suffered no ill effects. I personally couldn’t take the risk of not getting it.

I was the same and got the jab - it was a Positive exp.

I got my first jab at about 3 weeks (obvs did not know i was pregnant). I was not very ill but did need 36 hours in bed and felt v bleurgh.
I did not have the second at 11-12weeks but did have it after my 20 week scan. This was intentional/ by design.

London is rife with it and i can already feel my lung capacity is reduced.
I had no symptoms at all with the 2nd and am really pleased i had it. Despite the big gap un vaccines I am still considered double vaxxed and have the passport thing.

Our icu also has a lot of unvaccinated oregnant women. I didn't want that for myself, my DH or my baby.

Covid is a bigger risk to you than the vaccine.

Just get it, you will be fine.

Chris Whitty just now talking about a specific time period I missed.
1717 pregnant women admitted-1681 not vaccinated
235 pregnant women admitted to icu, 232 had not been vaccinated.

Surely if you haven’t made your mind up, that helps.

I had it in my second trimester. It was fine. Day 2 I was really sleepy but that was the only side effect. Baby is now 4 months old us absolutely fine!

Fai1 · 30/12/2021 05:01

I've gad both pfizer doses and baby and I are completely.

Quick question, for anyone who's had their babies now after being fully vaccinated, how are your babies doing and how old are they now? Thanks.

Fai1 · 30/12/2021 05:03

*completely fine 😊
