Migraines…. help!

Sorry long post!

Since my daughter was about 7 months old I’ve been experiencing bad migraines probably twice a month that can go on from anything from 2-7 days. I also get a numb face / tinnitus/ vertigo / painful eyes / sensitive to noise and bad tension in the neck and shoulders. (The list is endless)

Could this be from carrying LO around? Anyone else had this? She is quite a lump. My doctor has told me just migraines and nothing to be concerned about and prescribed tablets. I feel like I’m going to get nowhere with them at my surgery ! If I’m honest I’m not taking the tablets aw I feel like I want to get to the route cause first.

They did tail off for about a month and a half when I tried not to carry her round as much and ate healthier etc but I’m not sure if this was just a coincidence. The past few weeks I have been extremely stressed and I feel like they have come back worse.

Any advice would be appreciated pleeease !
Thanks

'just' migraines is unacceptable. It's a disabling neurological disease that ruins lives.
Ask to get referred to a headache clinic/ neurologist who specialises in migraine disease
Speak to your Dr or pharmacist about trying a triptan drug to abort migraine episodes

Migraines are the work of the devil you have my sincere sympathy!
You mention your diet changed so I’d look at keeping a food diary to identify potential triggers. Stress levels can definitely make a difference so think about ways to lessen that if you can and make sure you’re getting some exercise and enough sleep (so easy with a baby!)
Definitely go back to your gp and push fr referrals but you might find that looking for potential triggers and making lifestyle changes will make a difference. Doing these things will also give you more leverage with your gp especially if it doesn’t help.
I would also seriously consider taking the medication to see if it helps as migraines can be so debilitating and I wouldn’t put myself through one if I had a choice

poor you. Mine have ramped up considerably, all from working from home and spasm in my head and neck from bad desks. And catering babies used to trigger too.

I found using slings much much better as they meant quiche equally distributed, whereas when carrying you tend to use one side only.

Can you try an osteopath or chiropractor?

Migraines are a living hell - I have different triggers to kick off different types of migraines. I have had hit and miss responses from my GP as well for medication - currently experimenting with anti sickness tablets. I also found this site really good for information and how to handle them. www.nationalmigrainecentre.org.uk/migraine-and-headaches/migraine-and-headache-factsheets/

Have a look at the advice and support from

migrainetrust.org/

and also find out if there is a specialist headache clinic in your local nhs trust.

Don't just rely on gp help; many of them haven't got much expertise with migraine.
Recurring migraines need proper treatment, preventative if possible. They suck.

I suffered hormonal migraines at ovulation and just before period. Have you noticed any pattern? If so going on the mini pill that aims to reduce your cycle can help prevent the hormone peaks a d troughs.

Also noted that low sugar reduced my migraines further.
