Abscess on gum has popped, do I need to source antibiotics tonight?

Dr Google, bless.him, says all sorts.

Had tooth pain yesterday in a previously dodgy tooth. Managed to get in to my dentist on Thursday, kept taking the painkillers in the meantime.

However in the space of this afternoon a blob has come up on my gum next to said tooth and the pain has reduced substantially substantially. I've just plucked up the courage to look at the blob and can see that it had just burst by itself! There was a bit of pus when I prodded it through the cheek and then it ran clear.

I will ring my dentist in the morning to update and see if they want me in sooner but my question is do I need to call someone tonight and get on antibiotics before tomorrow? I was really worried about sepsis of course but I'm hoping that it's found a natural way out means that any further buildup of nastiness will just come out the same way? I will do salt washes and have got the thermometer out ready to keep an eye on my temperature so I'm hoping I'll be ok to plod on for the next 12 hours or so but I'm aware it's not something to mess about with either.

I know the end game for the tooth isn't promising but I just want the bloody thing out so I'm not too bothered about that, it's purely the infection side of things until I can speak to someone when they open in the morning.

It also explains why I thought my dinner was very salty, it must have burst when I was trying to get that down me Envy it's throbbing a bit now but only as much as I'd expect a hole in the gum to, not the pain of before.

I think if it’s popped and some pus has come out you should be fine.

I'd have thought that your plan is a good one of salt mouth washes and keeping an eye on your temp (minus paracetamol) until.you can speak to your dentist tomorrow morning.
Presume you could ring 111 for advice, even though it's dental, if you want some reassurance

U should be fine for now, but I had a similar problem on and off for a few years, the "pimple" kept coming back, draining and reappearing again every so often (months/years).

Earlier this year the tooth crumbled even more and I had it out. I told the dentist the story so after extraction he had a good rummage in the hole and pulled out a cyst-like pus blob (vom). So it had never completely gone away then but at least it's all gone now.

I had a gum boil thing over the 1st lockdown last year and had to wait till the July to see the dentist. I sadly had to lose the tooth but I didn't need antibiotics or anything. It may refill and burst a few times as mine did.

Call 111 and ask for advice. They can issue an emergency prescription if needs be for an open pharmacy.

I had one many years ago but I also had really bad toothache in that tooth. The abscess kept coming up and then popping but the pain didn't stop. I eventually went to a dentist who gave me antibiotics to take before they could do something about the tooth, which had to be removed.

Just to update on this one, I survived the night and it was no different so I kept up with the salt baths.

Have just been to the dentist, it needs to come out, got an appointment for... Drumroll.... February 😬 at least I'm back on the radar and they'll do me antibiotics if I need them.

Currently looking at private options as February feels an awful long way off but at least he didn't take one look and say it was an emergency, I guess.

I think u should be ok till Feb, maybe one more "pimple", maybe not. You could ask perhaps to be notified of any cancellations if you want it done sooner, although it's usually a longer appointment than a standard ones tend to be.

My tooth lasted for a few years after the first "pimple" (with a few more in the meantime), I only got down to it when it broke to pieces. And now whilst it's healing, i am still deciding whether to have an implant or a crown although it being upper 5th, it's not very noticeable.
