Hi there I suffer with hemiplegic migraines, I started getting migraines around 5 years ago they started off with just sure the flashing lights numbness and headache, they then gradually turned into the slurred speach and what not, I'm lucky to not get them often maybe once a month or every two months, but the last one was really scary I lost complete memory it felt like I kept dazing in and out and a lot of confusion it was very scary I went to the doctors and I was having a panic attack and I could even think of know what I was saying or ever remember I even went there, and I'm just so scared of it happening again or something bad happening as it seems to progress each migraine, anybody have any tips that may help?

I get hemaplegic migraines. I once had one during a stay at a family members home. It was so bad he wanted to call an ambulance because he thought I was having a stroke.

They're generally not quite on the scale but I'm so disorientated and unsteady on my feet I physically can't do anything whilst having one. I've been prescribed amitryptiline for the pain but it doesn't do much for the rest of the symptoms.

I've had them for about 10 years and get hit in a similar way to you, but I get numb arms too.
Having tried a variety of things, the only thing that's made a difference is taking daily magnesium, vitamin b and vitamin d.
I used to get them about once a month, and its now been 6 months since I last had one. I dream that I've cracked it, but I think they'll come back one day.

@2typesofjungle yes a few years ago I had quite a severe vitamin d deficiency that has now got better but have recently gone for a blood test and found that I have low folate levels which I believe maybe the issue so I'm taking folic acid everyday so hopefully that does the job!

I've never taken any vitamins before, I'm not even exactly sure what prompted me to try these 3 inparticular but since it's working I'll stick with it for now. I hope the folic acid helps you, migraines are just so utterly shit.
