The rosehip capsules is called Litozin if you are interested. The study was done on those with rheumatoid (sp?) arthritis but I would think it would apply to PA as well as they are both autoimmune disorders, aren't they?

You sound like you have it badly Badkitten. Is there anything that helps or do different things help at different times?

Poor you badkitten! I have been to the consultant at hospital lots of times but only had it REALLY that bad the once when my whole body was completely covered. Feeling your pain! It was after a certain type of throat infection, can't remember what they called it. I couldn't even bend slightly without being in pain, it was awful. I ended up jumping the admission queue to get into the dermatology ward. And i missed my holiday to Ibiza!!!!

I'm on the same level as you with my gp, I ask for what I want and they give me it. Think I have had every lotion and potion there is! But at the end of the day psoriasis isn't the worst thing in the world, I've learnt through my teens to keep my chin up and not let it bother me too much. Anyone who comments/stares/points are just ignorant. Can be hard sometimes, but I've got used to it and have my own way of making myself feel better. I like to keep my hair long to cover back and when it's not too bad I use loreal sublime fake tan (doesn't bother my skin at all!) to help disguise the redness.

Thanks Niecie - they are certainly similar so it could be well worth a try. I'll do some reading to make sure they don't clash with anything I'm taking.

When I'm not flared I'm pretty much fine and can forget I've got it. I have a friend who has RA. When I look at her I realise that actually I'm jolly lucky. My consultant says mine is very unlikely to disable me. For that I am very very grateful. Doesn't stop me whinging though

Heat helps, hot baths are heaven. One of my affected areas is in one of my sacro-illiac joints. I always thought that you are supposed to gently excercise with back pain. My gp pointed out to me this week that actually I'm not supposed to exercise (which makes it so much sorer) I'm supposed to rest it. doh!

dee. Was it a guttate psoriasis attack you had? Possibly bought on by strep? Thats the form of mine that tends to flare. I get chronic plaque too but that stays quite stable nowadays. When I was a kid (6yo) I spent a 5 week stretch in hospital trying out some new fangled (for then!) regime).

If it is guttate has your consultant told you to get antibiotics as soon as you can see it flaring? I tried that a month ago. Saw my gp as soon as I noticed it coming up on my tummy. It seemed to stop right in its tracks and then go. I've never had that happen befpre. Gp reckons I might have had a mild throat infection at the time provoking the attack.

Good idea about keeping your hair long. i don't mind at all about the plaques on my arms and legs and will go swimming unless its flaring but its the blasted snow storm I hate. Especially when I've sat in a chair in someones home then been really embarrassed and the part of me I've left behind.

You are so right about their being much worse things than this. This is how we are and we just have to get on with life.

But sorry to hear about your bad attack and you having to miss your holiday when you had it. The holiday was probably exactly what you needed!

dee24 · 12/12/2007 20:53

It was indeed, when it starts off like prickly heat then all joins up Two weeks in hospital instead of on a beach! But I did get my money back thankfully as my doctor wrote a letter to the insurance company. Although he did try and persuade me a holiday could have done me good.......I could hardly move lol! Bless him for trying
They did tell me as soon as I got a throat infection to get antibiotics. I had a smaller flare up a few years after that with the same infection but I realised straight away what was happening and it was treated quickly. But it did take a bit of arguing with my a rubbish dr at my surgery, as they didn't seem to know that and didn't believe me
I keep my hair long so that when I go out with my friends it's not too noticible, my friends don't mind and I'm sure others don't either but it helps me feel better.
My main problem is I'm an awful 'picky' person, I can't resist it (yuck, I know!) so usually around my chair at home i've got a snowstorm going on too. And I can't help it while in bed too, not exactly appealing to poor dp lol! So i try and keep my nails as short as possible What am I like!
