Thanks Niecie - they are certainly similar so it could be well worth a try. I'll do some reading to make sure they don't clash with anything I'm taking.
When I'm not flared I'm pretty much fine and can forget I've got it. I have a friend who has RA. When I look at her I realise that actually I'm jolly lucky. My consultant says mine is very unlikely to disable me. For that I am very very grateful. Doesn't stop me whinging though
Heat helps, hot baths are heaven. One of my affected areas is in one of my sacro-illiac joints. I always thought that you are supposed to gently excercise with back pain. My gp pointed out to me this week that actually I'm not supposed to exercise (which makes it so much sorer) I'm supposed to rest it. doh!
dee. Was it a guttate psoriasis attack you had? Possibly bought on by strep? Thats the form of mine that tends to flare. I get chronic plaque too but that stays quite stable nowadays. When I was a kid (6yo) I spent a 5 week stretch in hospital trying out some new fangled (for then!) regime).
If it is guttate has your consultant told you to get antibiotics as soon as you can see it flaring? I tried that a month ago. Saw my gp as soon as I noticed it coming up on my tummy. It seemed to stop right in its tracks and then go. I've never had that happen befpre. Gp reckons I might have had a mild throat infection at the time provoking the attack.
Good idea about keeping your hair long. i don't mind at all about the plaques on my arms and legs and will go swimming unless its flaring but its the blasted snow storm I hate. Especially when I've sat in a chair in someones home then been really embarrassed and the part of me I've left behind.
You are so right about their being much worse things than this. This is how we are and we just have to get on with life.
