my 8 yr old son has this in his upper arm near the arm pit and our doctor has said there is nothing to really do about it but wait til it goes of its own accord. It is spreading a bit and I am worried that it will get a lot worse. Has anyone any experience of this and iis it likeky to spread round the family? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

DD2 had this and it lasted about 10 months or so. It did spread a bit but not excessively. We were told it was very contageous and to be careful with things like towels but TBH no one else caught it from her and as my dr said- you can't keep her off school for 10 months!. It doesn't look very nice but is rather harmless. Some one on MN suggested aloe vera oil to speed up the clearing of this.

DS2 had it on one thigh. Maybe 5 raised lumps. He did scratch and pick at them a bit but that didn't make them worse or go away! He ignored them once I expained what they were. Yes they were there for ages and ages. He hasn't had them again. No one else in the family has had it. It was in the school at that time but no parent has mentioned it since then.

I have to say I didn't do any special hygiene practices as it seemed to just be there and not change and didn't cause any problems.

Try teatree oil, colloidal silver or thuja ointment. My 5 year old has it too - I think it's just a case of waiting for it to go. Adults are meant to be immune.

My dd had it for about a year. It was very unsightly but it did not spread to other members of the family.

I was ar the GP with her with another skin condition last week and mentioned the molluscum which had gone of its own accord. I said that dd had scractched at the spots after having them for some months and they went shortly afterwards. The GP told me that traumatising the spots (ie rubbing or scratching them) does help them to go.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour Cream is supposed to work wonders but it is a bit pricey. Good for lots of things though!
