Anyone had a holter monitor (ecg)

I've been waiting for a 48 hour holter monitor and got a call to say they can do next weekend. The thing is, I'm at a wedding that weekend, and I've got a nice dress to wear. I've never had one of these so no idea what it will be like but will it be really noticeable?
@dizzydizzydizzy can you tell me a bit more about how it was please, how many leads were placed on the chest, it is like when you have an ecg? I've been told I can't have a shower with it on
You can't have a shower with it on. I used a flannel and washed myself down at the sink. I assume you live in the UK @onelastgoatthis ? It's not hot sweaty weather at this time of year, so you'll be fine with a strip wash.

The device itself is about the size and shape of a bar of soap, but lighter. It has three leads coming out of it, which go to sticky pads on your chest - one pad is under your left boob, another under the right boob and the third is on your sternum a little higher up.

The leads are best under your clothes so you don't get them caught. There was a clip on the little device which I clipped to the waistband of my leggings. If you're wearing a dress, you could even clip it to your knickers or tights.

The device doesn't make any noise and can be completely hidden from view.

A blood pressure monitor is a completely different kettle of fish, however...... I also had that Grin

Ok?

Thank you so much @dizzydizzydizzy and @AlternativePerspective that's really helpful. I am in the U.K. I've not had the blood pressure one...yet Sad

I'm not actually having any symptoms but after numerous ecg's/echo's MRI's cardiologist thinks everything is pointing towards a cardiomyopathy.

If you do get asked to do a blood pressure monitoring session @onelastgoatthis, don't worry about it. It's a little annoying because you have a cuff round your arm and it squeezes your arm every 30 mins. Also it makes a buzzing noise as it does it. It's a little annoying but not the end of the world.

@ onelastgoatthis I have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Firstly what I would say is: please stay away from google. Google brings up an enormous amount of terrifying (and inaccurate) statistics about the prognosis etc etc which are completely outdated.

It might be worth joining the cardiomyopathy group on FB, they have a wealth of resources on there and all their members have been through the process of diagnosis in one way and another and will be happy to share their experiences/hopefully give you some reassurance.

My own cardiomyopathy is complicated and has led to additional conditions on my part, but it’s fair to say that until I was diagnosed after the flu virus attacked my heart, I had lived with the condition for nearly 43 years and was oblivious.

Cardiomyopathy doesn’t have to be a death sentence or even a life altering one. Diagnosis is the first step to knowing what your dealing with, and being able to have treatment accordingly.

About showering. If you have one for more than 24 hours they give you spare pads so you can take it off and replace it once a day.

I've recently had a 7 day one and went to an event during that time. The box bit fitted in my pocket, the sticky pads weren't visible and I fed the leads through the button front of my jumpsuit at pocket level. It could be seen ( a couple of people asked what it was) but honestly, I didn't care and enjoyed the bunfight just as much.

Please don't cancel going to a wedding just because of this. You won't even notice you're wearing it. (I only did because the stickies caused skin irritation and a rash, but that was 7 days worth.)
