Sorry this is long, but I'm hoping someone who knows about bloods might be able to help. I had an NHS health check last week and I've seen the results today via online patient access. I will try to get a telephone appointment with my GP tomorrow to discuss, but wondered if I could make sense of the flagged results which are out of normal range before I speak to her
From my full blood count:
MCV is 105.2 fL (normal range 81-102) and it was 96.8 when I last had a full blood count in 2016
MCH is 30.9 and has been flagged as abnormal (normal range 27-30) but I see that normal range used to be 27-33 and my previous result in 2016 was 31.6
MCHC is 294 g/L (normal range 317-340) and was 326 in 2016
From what I've just read, these readings relate to the size of red blood cells, and the high-ish MCV could indicate Vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency but the lower MCHC could indicate iron deficiency anaemia
But my serum Vitamin B12 came back as 260ng/L which seems ok, and folate 11.50ug/L which is also normal
Serum ferritin is 37ug/L which is also in normal range.
All other results in full blood count are in normal range and no big changes from my last FBC
Eosinophil is 0.40 10*9/L which is flagged as abnormal (normal range 0.03-.039) I got exactly the same reading in 2016, and but I see that normal range used to be 0.0-0.4
Vitamin D level is 41.7 nmol/L which is a bit low but not massively
I've been waiting on these results because the nurse noticed I had a 'regular irregular pulse' at the health check, and I was wondering whether there might be an obvious cause. I know I need to ask my GP about it but I'm a bit confused as to how to interpret the flagged results, whether there are issues here, and whether I might need further investigations
I am pretty anxious generally, and have had a tough year with bereavement and a lot of stress. I'm 47 and my periods have changed pattern over the last couple of years but still regular and not massively heavy
