Hi everyone - let’s talk migraines! As it happens a lot of us get them. I have tried so many things and seen neurologist, endocrinologist, osteopath, acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist, changed diet by excluding all trigger things etc. I am now trying with chiropractor to see if that helps. I k ow that we all get them for different reasons and some have triggers some (like me can’t find triggers). I have never had migraines until about 4y ago.. so this could be hormones that are somewhat responsible but I refuse to be defeated (not just yet) and wondered what has helped you if you have them?

My chiropractor has found misalignment in my neck after scans and think he can definitely help (but so did the others) :( thank you for listening…

Used to have 3 totally debilitating migraines a year. Several years ago I was prescribed blood thinners after pulmonary embolism, which I still have to take. Not a single migraines since.

I thought I had excluded all trigger foods until I went whole food vegan. That helps quite a lot. I still get some, but not nearly as many, & they aren’t as bad.

I never suffered from migraines until I hit the menopause 5 years ago. So I think mine are hormone related. I recently had to start propranolol for high blood pressure and my migraines massively reduced. It is actually used as a migraine medication. Or maybe my hormones are settling 🤷‍♀️ guessing game lol

Thank you all. It is such a tricky situation as they come so randomly and when I was away for a whole month and decided to drink away and eat away not a single one come. Could be low blood sugar … could be anything…

I’ve suffered from migraines since I was 13. I go through stages where they are worse and then better.

Mine are triggered by: pre-menstrual stage, low blood sugar/high blood sugar (so not eating regularly and also if I haven’t eaten for ages and then grab say a chocolate bar), alcohol, high intensity exercise, being in the sun and then sometimes they come out of nowhere…

What helps:
Sumatriptans although I always feel hungover after and obviously that’s not preventative.

Big hat and glasses in the summer (and staying inside)

Drinking lots of water

Eating regularly

Not getting stressed (which I am terrible at)
