18 month ds big old tummy bug on the way I think What do I do

Ds started with a cold Friday. His stools are getting looser and today he possetted (not vomit) his snack.

Plus last night he wanted to sleep on top of me which tells me he's getting something nasty.

I'm taking him to a walk in medical centre when he wakes up but is there anything I can give him to ensure that he's well watered and nourished if wer'e in for a rough time.

What are the dos and don'ts

Many thanks

Sorry your little boy isn't well.

It might not be a tummy bug. My DSs often have loose stools when they have a cold because of all the mucus and snot they are producing. Same with the possetting - it is probably due to too much mucus. Tummy bugs usually start with a bang and you know about it quite quickly.

Is he still wanting to eat and drink a bit?

Oh, that's interesting. It might be the mucus! Plus he's teething his last four teeth and it's nasty - and history says' he gets a bit of the runs. Didn't think, too busy stressing. Could be nasty cold plus nasty molars about to errupt.

Nah - off food and drink completely.

I'm not saying it isn't a tummy bug but it wouldn't be my first thought yet.

He could be off his food and drink because of the cold or a sore mouth, particularly if he has a sore throat. Actually that is a thought, my DS1 is sometimes sick if he has tonsillitis. Glands in the tummy get swollen and also their throats close over and it is difficult to get food down.

If you got to the walk-in centre and the Dr doesn't do it automatically (sometimes they don't) get them to check his throat and ears.

Hey - many thanks. That's exactly what I'll do!

How is your DS, mumsville? Any change?

They are a worry when they can't tell you what hurts, aren't they?
