Periods and tranexamic acid

Couldn't see any posts about periods directly

My gp has prescribed this as a way to lighten my periods until the coil is fitted. I don't know when that is.

Husband is against this as all his research says about heart attacks and strokes.

Can anyone help.

I was on it for years.

You need to either speak to a pharmacist for advice or speak to your GP about any concerns.

I've also been on this before for heavy and painful periods. I didn't find that it helped much with the pain side of things. So I didn't stick at it for long.

I took it while waiting for the Mirena. It made my very heavy periods only slightly lighter but no ill effects. The Mirena has been great.

I take northisterone and it works perfectly. Maybe try this instead?

I wanted to give them a try but I have had two tablets and I feel really spaced out. Is that normal. I can't focus on anything

It’s not a reported side effect, and not one I’ve ever had an issue with.
You can report side effects here

It could just be coincidental though. You really do need to speak to a pharmacist or Dr.

I also take it for heavy bleeding. Never felt spaced out (that could be because you've lost a lot of blood??) but it does give me groggy headaches so I try not to take it unless i really have to.
